Did you have a wedding planner or did you do it yourself?

Where did you get center pieces/decor?

What's some awsome venues?

Im thinking of hireing David Tutera, but wanting to know if anyone has gone through any other amazeing wedding planners! Any info would be awsome!

HavingaBOY --- 13 years ago -

No...I planned it all myself, and for under $2,000.
I made my own centerpieces. And it was planed to be at my parents old home since they had a huge gorgeous yard.

DramaLlamasMomma --- 13 years ago -

JOP $50. Best decision ever! lol

But I do want to say I watch David Tuteras show and those weddings are amazing!

I helped with my Moms wedding and it was such a headache. It would've been nice if we had the extra money to have a wedding planner!

PuertoRicanReina --- 13 years ago -

i did my own to but spent a little more =/. I spent 4,500 but i really wanted the dress which made me go over budget but i loved it =]

shizzlemydizzle --- 13 years ago -

Did it myself.
Centerpieces came from florist.
Cake came from catering hall and they did a wonderful job. Catering hall decor is designed for weddings/formal events.
We hired our own band, didn't use the "house music"

Calimommy --- 13 years ago -

How much would David be?

KikiSantana --- 13 years ago -

Lol good luck hiring David Tutera...he doesn't get out of bed for less then $10,000.

AussieGirl --- 13 years ago -

I planned mine all myself and had a ball doing it, but I am a travel agent so plan for a living.
Good luck and HAVE FUN!

KikiSantana --- 13 years ago -

Use projectwedding.com it's awesome. Also I just talked to one of the coordinators I used to work with and she said his fee is $35,000 now

Do yourself a favor and don't go into debt when just starting out your lives together.

I DIYed my wedding.

The only things I paid to have done were the flowers, my dress, the cake, the table and chair rentals, and the catering.

I had Michaels make my flowers. I bought my decorations from Michaels as well.

I made my center pieces and my own invites.

My husband made the party favors.

My husband and I decorated the venue and it looked amazing.

A wedding planner is not necessary, IMO, but if you feel that you don't have the time to do the majority of the planning yourself then hire one.

I also highly suggest going to a wedding expo to find everything that you need for your wedding.

shizzlemydizzle --- 13 years ago -

Really not a lot of planning involved.

Pick a date, find a hall, find someone to marry you/book church, get marriage license, buy dress/rent any tuxs you need, order/send invitations, make guest list/seating arrangements, order flowers, order cake/food if necessary.

If you go with a catering hall, the majority of the planning is taken out of the equation. They'll help you select the menu, set up/break down, offer options for linens, centerpieces, cake and music.

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

Calimommy- its 20- 30,000 to hire him depending on what you want.

Accountnickname- lol I won't go into debt at all.

Thanks ladies :)! I would do it myself but it will be a destination wedding and I'm sure a planner would do it so much better! Then I can enjoy my wedding and the days leading up to it with out being stressed out. I do want to do some things my self which is why I asked what everyone else has done :)! On my phone so if anythings spelled wrong or out of place sorry. It has a mind of its own lol.

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

Kikisantana- Yes I know :). Thank you for the site!

alwaysright --- 13 years ago -

What a giant waste of money by paying someone 30k to plan your wedding. Hell I will do it for 5k and I guarantee it will be just as amazing as some overpriced fairy.

BellaLaVie --- 13 years ago -

just as amazing as some overpriced fairy.

Ahahahahahaha. That was awesome.

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

Alwaysright-*just as amazing as some overpriced fairy.*

Lol that was pretty funny hahaha, but I do love his work and he's really nice. It's only a waste of money if you don't have it.

kristin40 --- 13 years ago -

Pick the destination site first and call to see if they have a coordinator.

^^^THIS^^^

Or, they may even have a wedding package already in place if it's a popular site for weddings.

Vod Kaknockers --- 13 years ago -

I did our wedding myself, there wasn't a lot of time/money involved. We didn't want to spend a ton on our wedding, we just wanted to be together.

I helped plan my sister's wedding too I made all of the bouquets, and the boutonnieres. We also did the centerpieces. I will see if I can find the pictures and post them. I can't remember everything she and I made but I know it was everything, they didn't pay anyone to do it.

HavingaBOY --- 13 years ago -

Destination weddings can be hard, does your family have money to travel there?? like all your relatives/cousins/aunts/uncles ?? his side of the family??

I have a lot of friends for have spent 100s of thousands on weddings...and ALL of them regret it...not one of them is happy they spent a lot on their wedding. They said it was gorgeous, but its a day long and they would have rather spent the money on the honeymoon and used it to use together.

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

Vod kaknockers- I would love to see pics!! We want to be together as well, we just have familys that expect the best for everything and it has to be that way with no exception. Sucks but that's how we were both raised. I would like to do it myself but I have no clue where to start and where to find what I'm looking for. I want a very elegant/classy wedding and I know ill stress out about every bit till its perfect.

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

HaveingaBoy- Yes both our familys have the money to travel and who don't we'd get them there. Were not worried on the amount of the wedding. Im just torn between letting someone plan it or do it myself.

Ashley828 --- 13 years ago -

It's only a waste of money if you don't have it.

Geez how do you have THAT much money?

HavingaBOY --- 13 years ago -

The only problem with someone else is they may not do exactly what you want. And a destination wedding the reception hall can prob do majority of it for you and you wont need to hire anyone. And if you do it yourself you get to take credit when everyone tells you how amazing it looks :)

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

Ashley828- My parents own acouple businesses and have a lot of stocks. My hubs family owns a Horse ranch. I model and do commercials.

HavingaBOY --- 13 years ago -

I model and do commercials.

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -

JDsMainSqueeze3 --- 13 years ago -
