I HATE THEM. I have one credit card that I had since I was 18 and it's through them. They've screwed me over so many times with this damn card, and I wanted to pay it off myself, and not make my husband pay it. So after donating my eggs last week, I did. Granted it wasn't a huge total but still. I paid it off in full on the 24th. A week later(yesterday) it still hadn't shown up online so I called. They had no record of it. I went back to the branch today and again, NO RECORD! I threw a fit. I handed a woman $700 in cash on the 24th to find out she didn't even have her cash box on her. But she still took the money. I threatened to call the cops and then they started investigating. And now it's showing as pending but not posted yet.
Has BOA ever done this to anyone else!?? This is RIDICULOUS!!
Yes, I closed my account paid all outstanding, the guy took my card and said all was done. One month later my insurance attempted to post because it was on auto pay, they paid it....on a closed account and chafed me 99 in over draft...they are the worst bank ever!
I had just had surgery so I was not feeling too well. I wanted it paid though. I gave her the money, she gave me change. She then tried to get me to open a checking account and gave me a paper saying if I did I'd get $100, and put her name and the date on it(the 24th). Frustrated I said no and walked out. Fortunately I had that paper she'd given me with her name, but I remembered who she was. I was stupid to walk out without a receipt yes, but that's just ridiculous for her to take my money, give me the change, try to get me to open a checking account and then not put the money towards my card....
I hate them! I had an account with them when i was 18. I closed it and just last year i went to open an account at chase and i couldnt bc BOA said i owed them money? I called and they said $350 for overdraft fees? Somehow my account was charged for things after i closed it? Idk how bc i had to have a zero balance before i closed it. I WOULD never bank with them again. Idc if they were the last bank on earth lol id use cash.
I don't have checking with them anymore because I had an account and they charged me fees for no reason. I closed it and like some of you said, it never closed and I ended up with $250+ in random fees that I was forced to pay because they screwed up and didn't close the account. Then I only had my credit card that I wanted to pay off myself and I've been paying it slowly and then finally went to pay it in full on the 24th and they pull this crap. Thankfully because of the fit I threw, the branch manager called and personally informed me that they fixed the problem and found my cash and it's been credited....FINALLY.
I would close the card but it's my longest line of credit and that would hurt my already crappy credit score.
And as for how I could walk out without a receipt, I don't really know. Probably had something to do with the surgery is had just hours before, the Tylenol 3, and the frustration at the teller trying to get me to open an account.
I never walk out without a receipt from a bank. Similar issue happened with me with Soverign Bank (north east). However, I closed my savings with BOA but kept my checking open back in December 2011. When I checked my online account, it showed that I had pulled out all the money, but because my balance was less than $1000 they had been charging me $5 a month for Jan, Feb, March, April and May. I called up, pitched a fit and faxed over copies of the paperwork saying my account was closed. I am convinced that doing that was the only way I did not get stuck with the fees.
This is off topic, but you donated your egg?! Don't you feel like your child is somewhere in the world and you don't know where? Is there any type of attachment?
^ But would these same people who donate their eggs be in agreeance with their husbands donating sperm to make a few bucks or "help out" a family in need? If it's "not for cash" then don't accept the money.
There is a big difference between the process to donate sperm and to donate eggs. There are also a lot of risks involved in egg donation. I can't imagine that anyone would go through it all just to make a buck. There are much simpler ways of making a bit of money. People are usually doing it to help someone as their primary motive.
I would not donate my eggs due to family history issues (plus I'm too old) but I think it is a wonderful thing to do to help another person. No one would want my husband's sperm because of genetic issues that would come along with it, but I would have no problem with it.
I donated my eggs because I wanted I help a family have a child and the intend parents live in Spain so I will never bump into them or the child. I can't say I feel nothing because I do. But knowing I'm helping a couple have a child is a good feeling. I can't imagine never having a child. My daughter is my life. If I couldn't have a kid with my own eggs, I'd hope someone would help me.
If there was NOT going to be money involved would you have still gone through it in the "spirit of giving life", and if yes, they why did you go to an agency and accept money? Shouldn't the "good feeling" you got be enough? I'm just curious.
Shouldn't people who become doctors or firefighters to save lives do it for free since the "good feeling" should be enough? Shouldn't people who want to be teachers to help children do it for free because otherwise it isn't a noble enough choice of profession?
Hey, I never said the money wasn't a factor, but my main motive was to help the couple have a child. But as accountnickname said doctors and teachers don't only do what they do for the good feeling. I also did it so I could put the money in savings. But let's not forget what the main topic here was.
Shouldn't people who become doctors or firefighters to save lives do it for free since the "good feeling" should be enough?
Thing is, getting pumped with hormones to produce eggs is not a job, nor does it have to do with saving lives. If they don't want to get paid, hey, they can choose not to accept money, but problem with your theory is they don't ALL become those professions for a "good feeling".
Well hey, in the spirit of the Internet since rules that pertain to keeping on topic don't exist--- anything goes.
??? I never implied that donating eggs to help someone have a child was about savings lives. I mentioned 3 jobs among MANY which are chosen by people for both altruistic reasons while at the same time providing an income. I put forth no theory nor do I suggest I know the reasonings behind anyone's choices. Helping someone have a child is a good thing imo and I am glad that people like Jillys Mommy are out there to help those who need it.
Oh sweet Jebus. Someone's bored tonight. Thing is though, as much as anything goes on the Internet, what I do and why is up to me. Whether I did it to help them have a baby, for the money etc. that's my business. I don't have to answer to anyone especially random people on PU as to why I donated my eggs. I already wrote why, but I shouldn't have had to even try to explain. Everyone is going to have their own views on the subject. Anywho, thank you accountnickname. :)
?? Neither did I? You were comparing the altruism of donating eggs to a couple in need and people who save lives who shouldn't accept payment for their "good feelings".
Helping someone have a child is a good thing imo and I am glad that people like Jillys Mommy are out there to help those who need it.
Ok, good for her and people alike--I have the right to disagree with donating MY eggs/for money/donating in general.
Oh sweet Jebus. Someone's bored tonight.
And commence your burbling paragraph.
Don't like people who disagree responding to you then don't post?

Something soo similar happened to me and my husband. We opened our account with them and they treated us great. Then about 6 months later they started charging us fees for no reason, then they told us our account got hacked, which im not totally sure of because i never saw any money leave but the fees. then at the yr mark after we had enough of them bs'ing us around we tried to close the account and they refused to let us. so then when we went to another bank, they looked into our credit and say that BOA put something on our credit that made it impossible to open an account with another bank for an additional 6 months. we were soo pissed. we fought, contacted the main office. finally they took what ever it was off and we closed immediately. im not even sure exactly what it was no one would give us any straight answers. I WILL NEVER BANK WITH THEM AGAIN!!!
"shizzlemydizzle --- 2 min ago - quote - flag comment - hide comments Let's see, several people have had problems with BOA and the description of the problems seem to be the fault of the people dealing with the bank...
1) Person didn't get a receipt. 2) Person didn't change their banking information for autodrafts.
Not saying BOA is not at fault in some instances, but, come one people, take some responsibility for issues you have control over."
That is probably true in most cases.
On another note. My parents received a bill (about 15 years ago?) from good old BOA for some kind of account or services. I don't know what kind since I wasn't living at home, but anyways, they have NEVER done business with BOA.
Did you read about the BOA auto-bot signing housing foreclosures on people? There was one couple in the news who got a foreclosure notice from BOA, yet 1) their house was paid off so they owed nothing, and 2) they didn't even have a mortgage from BOA. Yet somehow the bank decided to kick them out of their home. (They fought it an won obviously). Another instance (my personal favorite) something happened and BOA owed a couple money (can't remember exactly why). BOA refused to pay so the couple took the bank to the courts, and got a court order for BOA to pay them. BOA still didn't give them the money, so their lawyer got some law enforcement to help out and foreclosed on the local branch! They brought in a u-haul and started removing everything from the bank that wasn't nailed down. Well that lit a fire under the bank managers ass, and he cut them a check for all the money the bank owed them right then and there. Sweet justice against BOA!
I'm glad I don't have checking with them anymore. I want to close my credit account but I know it will hurt my credit. But I really don't want it to bite me in the behind later when they try to charge me fees.
Did I mention my credit card is STILL in my maiden name? I have been married 3 and a half years and attempted to change it IN THE BRANCH, on 4-5 different occasions, filled out all the paperwork, had my marriage certificate with me etc. They still call me by my maiden name. UGHHH!
