Just venting.
They were supposed to come on & Tues to pack. Load Weds.
Well yesterday they could make it so they said they will send extra people today to make sure it gets done. They send 3 people!!!
THEN the company calls and say the driver got some kind of citation and they can't get another truck until Friday!
We are supposed to have it cleaned and do our walk through on Friday....
Not a good start!

Clinical Depression --- 12 years ago -

Go to the housing office and see if they can push your move-out until Saturday? I don't know what housing district you're in, but I would call them and figure out what to do...otherwise pack up your belongings yourself starting now and see if your neighbor will let you put your stuff in their driveway while they're doing the move-out inspection (you're responsible for the stuff you pack) and wait for DMO?

GardenWitch --- 12 years ago -

I think they are off base and renting :-/

I'm sorry it's starting out so rough, all you can do at this point is notify TMO/landlords of the delays and breathe....deeply.

gbob --- 12 years ago -

Yes, we live off base. The landlords are super people, so there is no issue with them.
We have made plans/reservations/etc along the way. They can be changed, but I sure as heck was hoping for a semi smooth move!
I have a headache....LOL

gbob --- 12 years ago -

Also, they are packing up EVERYTHING today, so we will have 3 kids driving us crazy for the next couple of days!!

Champ --- 12 years ago -

Make sure you file a complaint with tmo- they need to know a company is unreliable, so they can avoid future issues. Also they'll light a fire under them.

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

Same crap happened to us. DMO told us it was between us and the moving company and there was nothing DMO can do. It was the most frustrating crap ever. DMO contracted these people not us so why is it between us and the contracted company?
I swear, after this I don't think I'll ever do a DMO move again. EVEN ACROSS THE COUNTRY!

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

Our schedule was set up to pack Wed and Thurs and load Fri

No one shows up at all Wed, then on Thurs it was 7 PM before anyone showed up and then it was just a driver, his girlfriend and a semi truck. They looked around and left and said they'd be back the next day with 2 packers he found along the way to help.

Next morning, he shows up alone at 9 am, (well his girlfriend was with him again but she isn't packing).
He starts packing and around 11 am TMO found us 2 more packers to come help. They ran out of packing material and we had to take them to buy more. They left at 7 pm that night (Friday) and came back at 7 am Sat. to finish packing and loading. They were there until 10 PM and all of our things didn't even fit in their truck so we again had to take them to get a UHaul this time, Uhaul where they went didn't take credit cards over the phone so WE had to pay for the truck instead of the moving company. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!!!!

Wisconsin Sarah --- 11 years ago -

OMG MM shut up!!! Thats a horrible experience! I would be LIVID! Where are you PCSing to?

We just PCSed to Okinawa a few weeks ago and our stuff is supposed to be here this week ... we dont have housing yet so Im not in too much of a hurry but I hope it gets here in one piece ..

There is a new facebook group about the crazy stories of DMO ... (and a section for shout-outs to good movers) ... you should see the crazy shiz on that page lol

Maleficent --- 11 years ago -

Wtfffffff I would be raising all sorts of he ll over that! There is no freaking way.

GardenWitch --- 11 years ago -

Why do you think we did a DITY cross country, even if it was a big pain?

I'd be in the TMO office ripping some tushies into little tiny shreds if I had to deal with that much incompetence from a company THEY contracted.

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

We PCS'd to Pendleton, got here June 24. Sarah I wish I were joking but yeah, not so much.

The contracted company has paid us 1275.00 for INCONVENIENCES so far.
I still have to file a claim for the damaged property, but it seriously was a damn nightmare and I will NEVER do it again. Garden Witch is gonna move me next time LOL

At this point, there's not much else I can do.

We got our deep freezer and DH plugged it in, not thinking to look inside first.
For days and days we were searching for our power tools, electric drill, battery charger for the other drill, level, saw, etc.
Well I finally found them FROZEN INSIDE THE DEEP FREEZER!!! Since they ran out of boxes, they used my deep freezer as a box. SMDH

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

and why the EFF is now called DMO instead of TMO?

Wisconsin Sarah --- 11 years ago -

I just saw something (on this moving page on fbook) where the movers put a kid's booster seat in someones deep freezer. When they found it, it was completely molded ... SO stupid ... the logic is nonexistent

GardenWitch --- 11 years ago -

I use my freezer as a moving box....wastes too much space if you don't. The difference is I clean and let it dry thoroughly before we put stuff in there, and remember to empty it out before it gets plugged in!

MM, we had some neighbors on Lejeune show up with TWO of the biggest rental trucks when they PCS'd with three kids...you might need three trucks with your crowd, lol!

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

I think that mold has to be from someone not cleaning it and letting it completely dry out. Some of that is their own fault IMO

I also bought some baking soda things for the frige and freezer before they moved them.

HOWEVER, it's my husband's fault for not looking inside before plugging it in. lol

Now, I did tell them they could use it to put stuff in, but with the way the inside of mine is made I did not like the fact that they put power tools in the bottom with nothing to protect my freezer. It is not a hard plastic like the inside of most are, the bottom is a foil like material. It could be easily punctured.

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

GW, we'd need a semi for real :)

By the time we PCS again though, we may be childless :)

GardenWitch --- 11 years ago -

That's easy then, we did that. Left the youngest and all her crap at school in NC.

Monkey Manners --- 11 years ago -

How did you get that lucky? My oldest left but she left all of her stuff for us :( UGH I actually went through it last summer when she left and was able to consolidate it to 2 boxes though, so not so bad.

GardenWitch --- 11 years ago -

She has an townhouse off campus so she needed stuff anyway. We hauled her old desk and all the things she had left at home, plus extra kitchen stuff, and the queen bedroom set from the spare bedroom up to her a couple weeks before we moved.

Can they make the claims process EASIER? WTF?
I sat here from 11 AM to 5:00 PM filling out the claims info online.
I started uploading pics and got about 50 uploaded including a description/ comment for each one
AND THEN EVERY PICTURE FILE DISAPPEARED!
I logged out and back in and still gone. Uploaded another and logged out- GONE AGAIN!
So beyond pissed that I wasted hours doing this and it's all gone now!
There is no place to save as you go!

Can they make the claims process EASIER? WTF?

I sincerely think it's SO difficult to use in hopes people will give up on their claim(s). Not to mention, you can't access the site from a MAC. lol Once we submitted the claim, it took us 4 months to get a check. If the mover won't respond to the claim, DMO basically tells you you're on your own. Ridiculous process.
