My husband claimed to his friends that I make really great tacos... but I've never made tacos before Haha, thats really funny. A really good chicken one, put a bag of frozen on the bottom of the crockpot than some black beans (from a can) than the chicken breast, and lastly a thing of pace salsa. The flavor is really good.
Haha is it sad that I'm seriously contemplating that? Lol. I'm all flustered now trying to come up with what to make. Normally if we ever get Mexican food, very rare, I always get nachos of some sort. I have no clue why he said it and this is the first time I'm meeting them. Ugh, men haha.
I make mine 2 different ways. One use shredded roast beef, from crockpot or oven roast. Or use ground beef w/ small chopped potatoes steamed on top of the cooked ground beef. Then with either of those fillings. warm your corn tortilla on flame and fill with your topping, close w/ 2 toothpicks. When you have a bunch prepared like that, fry them in some hot oil in a pan. cook till golden....yum! fill w/ your toppings. :)
Here's what u do get some chicken skinless boneless chicken breast cut into small pieces. But some chorizo from a Mexican store only a Mexican store! Albertsons carries it but its not real chorizo. Add chicken to pan let that cook then add chorizo or u can cook them separate. Get some Mexican yummy salsa like red or green my mom home makes her but I am sure u can get some at the Mexican food place. Add to tacos for topping with some cut up avocados add lime n I swear they are so yummy! Now I want some 😃
What I do is brown ground beef, then put it in a pie plate, cover the ground beef with re-fried beans (heating the beans first helps make it easier to spread) then top with shredded cheese. I then put that in the oven at 250 until the cheese is melted. It works great as a taco/burrito stuffing. What I like to do is get egg roll wrappers (can find them in the produce refrigerated section) and put them in a greased cupcake pan (one wrapper per cupcake spot) toss those in the oven at 400 for about 6-9 minutes (you want them browned, not burned) Then you let everyone make their own mini taco bowl, they have the meat/bean/cheese filling to put in first, then they can add shredded lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa or tomatoes.
Oh I forgot about shredded beef. Thats really easy. Just put a roast in the crockpot with some seasonings and peppers if you want a little kick. Shred it and you have some good shredded beef. Get some corn or flour tortillas. If they are corn just fry them in some oil to make a taco shape (folded in half) than add your favorite fillings, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, avocado, beans really just about anything
beef skirt, brush with little oil, does not matter wich(canola, olive, vegetable)sprinkle with some steak spices(mrs Dash or whatever)grill or just cook it on a hot skillet, chop, heat flour or corn tortillas, serve with pico de gallo Pico de gallo:cut in small pieces tomatoes, jalapenos or serrano, peper, onion, cilantro, lime juice,u can add some of the same steak season salt it will be delicious..You can add some avocado so no need of the Guac..And Taco Bell is horrible, please don't...
I LOVE LOVE making tacos! Try shredded beef tacos, they are so so yummy!! Here is my taco recipe:
Get beef chuck, put it in a pan, fill pan half way up the meat with water, cover with tinfoil, put in oven @ 350 for 4 hours (or in a crock pot for 6-10 hours depending upon weight) or more (until the meat is falling apart by itself), take out chop up then throw in blender to shred.
For the shell I use tortillas - put a little oil in a pan on med/high heat, (corn tortilla) and place the tortilla in wait until both sides are crisp and light/med brown and place them on a paper towel to soak up the extra oil. Then serve! (I don't season the meat, some people like to but I love the generic beef flavoring of it)
(I looked up some seasoning for the meat and here are some ideas chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper)
