What would you do if you saw someone with 4+ dogs and at least 1 cat in housing?

DaniP --- 5 years ago -

Are they dog sitting?

Jmblankets --- 5 years ago -

No we don't think so. We have seen 3 out of the 4 dogs since we moved in. It's almost like they have two dogs out every few days and the other dogs the other days. The cat is nee

Jmblankets --- 5 years ago -

I wish they where house sitting but I am sure they are not

YouReallyThinkSo --- 5 years ago -

Do the dogs bark all the time? Do they pick up the poop? Do the dogs look like they are being abused or not taken care of well? Who cares unless they are being bothersome, or they arent taking care of them. But if they are barking and loud I can understand. I hate listening to 1 or 2 dogs I cant imagine 4.

Jmblankets --- 5 years ago -

Two out if four hits bark non stop all day everyday :(

SoLovely --- 5 years ago -

If you were to complain about two dogs barking, maybe that's a bit different than complaining about the number of animals they have. Plus, it's like they only have two dogsI come from a family that rescues, and I hate to see people being forced to give up pets due to housing rules. Yes, they should know better, but the poor animals wouldn't understand why they were being abandoned by their owners.

Taminator --- 5 years ago -

Are you asking if you should tattle tale on them? Im confused on the question? What would "I" do if I saw someone with 4+ dogs?...nothing its not my business?

Jmblankets --- 5 years ago -

I know that's why I have not complained to housing or animal control. I feel sorry for the dogs. I am not sure what to do.

Jmblankets --- 5 years ago -

I posted this to find out what to do for dogs and cat. It is my bussiness when the dogs are barking all night keeping my child up.

MorrigansMaiden --- 5 years ago -

So complain about the barking. If they have more pets than are allowed then they should try to keep them quiet. But I wouldn't say anything to pmo or housing about the quantity of pets. If pmo has to go there and address the noise and they get caught with too many then that's on them. But tattling is kinda messed up.

Mandilee --- 5 years ago -

I would mind my own business. Too many wives worry about what is none of their business in housing.

So true unless what their neighbor does is affecting their children..

Talk to them first! So many people skip that step because they don't want confrontation, but so many pet owners would appreciate this step first. If they don't resolve the problem, then contact animal control to see if they can assist. As far as the number of animals, who cares? If they are properly cared for, give the creatures a break. Don't make them homeless because you aren't sleeping well.

Then don't live in housing if you can't follow the rules?

YouReallyThinkSo --- 5 years ago -

Because they cant hear there dogs barking all the time? When I have a problem I usually talk to my neighbors first but I dont have to. Everyone is different. Some dont like confrontation but that doesnt mean they should suffer. Poster do what you feel you need to do. If you are hearing barking all the time and its affecting your life make a complaint. PU is filled with a ton of people and everyone is different. You have to do what you feel like is necessary.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 5 years ago -

I agree with this, its not like they dont tell you the rules before you sign a lease. Move some where that allows 4 dogs and a cat if thats what you have. I live in Stuart Mesa and could barely imagine having one dog in these houses cause they are small and no backyard, I couldnt imagine 4 and a cat.

And posts like this one are exactly why I'm worried about moving back onto base next week (not that I really have a choice). I have ONE dog, who is a 5 pound yapper, but I swear I am always reading about someone who is being too nosy or too sensitive on here. I feel like with living on base everything is a "damned if you do damned if you don't" deal. Like I was reading about someone complaining about how their neighbors take their dogs out for a walk and the dogs sometimes crap on other people's lawns but the owners still pick up the poop. Seriously that's ridiculous, if they pick up the crap then who cares. Then I see people complaining about how their neighbor's dogs are always barking, yeah I understand why people get annoyed with that, I get annoyed with my own dog. But I just have this feeling that someone on base is going to have a "problem" with the fact that we put a bark collar on our dog so she doesn't bother the neighbors and wake up our kids. It just sprays water and citronella scent at her but you know those nosy people on base will think it's cruel or something. Okay I went on a tangent/rant sorry, the point is: mind your own business. Complain about the noise sure (after you've already left them a note asking them to take care of it) but don't tattle on them. We aren't in kindergarten anymore.

Calimommy --- 5 years ago -

I would complain about the noise, I can't move back on base when we come back because of my dog, rules are rules.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 5 years ago -

Mrs. Cup you will run into this problem everywhere. Its not just on base. As long as your a responsible pet owner thats all that matters. Its your pet as long as you are arent abusing it do as you please. If you let people get to you cause they are talking than you have a long hard road head of you.

Actually, no, we've been living off base for almost 3 years now and we haven't had anyone here have any problems with our dog or us. However when we lived on base for 6 months there was always someone calling PMO on someone else and butting into other people's business over small things. We never got a call about us, but some of our friends did. And I will do as I please, I have just lived on base before and there are too many wives with too much time on their hands is all I am saying. I don't care if other people talk about it, just don't call PMO over stupid crap is all I'm saying. I'm willing to bet that PMO gets tired of all the stupid calls too.

Forgot to emphasize for the OP: leave them a note or something first before you call to complain about their dogs. I am sure they will fix the problem and appreciate that you told them before calling anyone first.

Jmblankets --- 5 years ago -

Okay thanks :) Hope everyone has a great day. I will talk to the owners

YouReallyThinkSo --- 5 years ago -

Ive lived on base for 4 years, 2 different bases and never had a problem with PMO being called on us, nether have our friends. But every ones opinion on whats stupid to call about is different. Rules are rules and they are there for a reason. PMO and housing are there to enforce the rules. Good luck in your move.

Oh and I have lived off base, husband didnt join tell he was older and I would call the cops for the same reasons I would call PMO.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 5 years ago -

Good luck JM

!!! This. This forum is what made me decide not to move to base housing. Last thing I want is to accidentally leave my broom on my porch and have the whole neighborhood thinking I'm an adulteress. (Apparently this really happens.)

accountnickname --- 5 years ago -

Funny enough in all the years I lived in base housing I never had anyone try to report me for anything. Living off base it has happened twice, however. Once right after we moved in to our foreclosure we were reported to our HOA for having dead grass (dead when we bought it) and had to have the new grass in by a certain date. We would have put in new grass anyway, but we probably would have waited 2 weeks. The second time was when my husband's commuter got a flat tire and we had it towed to our house while we waited on the special order tires to arrive. Someone complained to code enforcement in the county for having a car parked on the road without being moved in 24 hours and we got a warning and had 24 hours to remove it from the street. It happens everywhere.

Regarding the dog situation I don't know. It stinks when people can't follow the rules but you don't know the circumstances either. What if they had someone dump 2 dogs on them and they are working hard at trying to adopt them out vs. taking them to a shelter? I would leave a note about the barking though if it is bad enough it is waking your child.

xxxtheripperxxx --- 5 years ago -

I wouldn't report them to housing. Why should anyone have to follow the rules? I say let them have their four dogs, and maybe once people find out they don't have to follow the rules, they too will get four dogs, or maybe even five dogs! If there's one thing Camp Pendleton needs, it's more barking dogs, and piles of dog crap. It's not like anyone ever complains about these things.

If the dogs are barking and getting to her than it is her business. If you read the whole thread she says one of them barks all the time.
