PLEASE bring your dogs in at night.. I wake up constantly because people are leaving their dogs outside ALL night and they do NOT stop barking! How do you sleep at night?

necerj --- 13 years ago -

And people have wondered how their dogs got poisoned... pfsh

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

I also live in San O 1, i swear people never take their dogs in!! They are out all day, and all night. I let my dog play and use the bathroom but if he barks, i let him in- i think i am the only one who cares if my dog barks. My neighbors also let their dogs out of the fence and let them run around the neighborhood.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Thats ridiculous. I believe they have a lease law here. Thats dangerous! They could attack little kids!

Im SOOO tempted to call housing or something. Idk what they can do but im getting really mad about it.

Barking during they day is fine, I don't care but its just at night. The little time I can sleep, I need it.

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

I have thought about calling too- i live on the 'lower' level so there is a house right above me and of course on both sides with barking dogs. I think you can call and they will warn them but it keeps happening then they will get in trouble with the barking dogs.

MommaNanny --- 13 years ago -

If you call make sure it is the right house! Someone called animal control on me for leaving my dog out all day and night. When it was actually my neigbors. My dogs only go out for little bit at a time. They are spoiled chihuahuas. My neigbors dog is a big dog. You can sure as hell tell the difference between a chi and a huge dogs barking and whining.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Ill do a neighborhood dog watch and driving around and listen for barking dogs. lol jk

But seriously, would that be animal cruelty?

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

I don't really know about the animal cruelty but we can complain because it's bothering us. Leaving a dog outside is not cruelty, he is just an outside dog. As long as the dog has food/water and hot beaten then i believe it's okay. We don't have to be able to have animals on base, and i am sure if they don't get the dogs to stop then housing can revok dog privileges.

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

If i call in to complain about a dog/neighbor i am giving the add and what type of dogs. I want the dogs to stop and the right people to get in trouble.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Yeah thats true, thanks. I really dont think the people would listen though. Im mid way up the big hill so i can hear EVERY dog. lol I have no idea whose dogs they are though. I just hear them. Im pretty sure one is my neighbor. Theyre dog is always out

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

I would make sure you have the add and call in. If they don't listen i am pretty sure they will get 3 warnings and then housing could rekov animal privileges. What do you have to lose? I am sure you could do an anonymouse phone call.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Yeah, theres just SO many dogs though! lol

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

That's true, but there are 2 homes around here that are the worst!!

pandamanda0719 --- 13 years ago -

I've never understood this... literally as soon as my dogs starts barking I bring them both in. Both my dogs sleep inside at night as well. The only time they are left outside alone is when I'm out and about.. and thats usually 2 hours at most.
But I think being outside is nicer then caging them. I have 2 big dogs so I feel bad when I cage them.

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

Leaving the dogs outside for a few hours a day or once a week while out is understandable. But, leaving them outside ALL day and just letting them bark is horrible. I know my neighbors are home, they just don't care if they bark.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Train the dogs to be out of the cage! My 5 month old even wakes up from these dogs.. That is NOT good.

pandamanda0719 --- 13 years ago -

necerj i would call housing and have them send a letter to the residents about the dogs barking. i would be P.O. if dogs woke up my kids.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

I would but theres so many dogs that bark and idk what house they live at:/

nessaTEX --- 13 years ago -

I live in San O I and my neighbors have dogs and the people above me all have dogs. Sure they bark but it's not bad,my neighbors are really good about bringing in her dogs if they start.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Thats good!!!

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

we def have different neighbors then.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Theres a LOT of houses in San o 1

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

I ment mine as a joke...i know there are a lot of houses. I am just saying that some people are good with their dogs and some are not.

necerj --- 13 years ago -

Oh lol got it

CharlieWhiskey2 --- 13 years ago -

You know, once upon a time dogs could be outdoor dogs and STAYED outside.
My dog is an indoor dog but that doesn't mean I'm going to get mad at someone who has an outdoor dog. As long as there is sufficient food, water, and a little house or something for their bed, who careS?
P.S. Dogs bark, it's a part of life. Every morning I am woken up by my next door neighbor's dog doing a half bark, half whine. Do I complain? No, because it's how it is. If I didn't want to hear anything, I'd move out into the country and put poison around my house so not even crickets sang. Can't complain when you are connected to or live a foot away from another house.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 13 years ago -

In 29 Palms it was against the base order to leave your dog outside. There is a difference between being a responsible pet owner and being a crappy person. Just because you want a dog doesn't mean your neighbors should suffer. If your dog is barking and your home bring him inside. Common courtesy. Good for you not caring if your neighbors dog wakes you up, if a dog is waking my kids yes I would file a complaint with housing.

nessaTEX --- 13 years ago -

P.S. Dogs bark, it's a part of life.
Yeah, I agree. I guess just growing up with outdoor "guard" dogs we knew if they were barking a lot something wrong was outside. I might stir a bit but gives me a chance to wake up and use the R.R. Lol

DaniP --- 13 years ago -

I like how this is a website where you can complain and talk about things but as soon as you do you are attacked for it. Dogs bark, i get that, but they shouldn't do it all night long where it wakes people up everynight. I like to listen to music, but i don't open all my windows and turn it up all the way to bother people, i like to talk but i don't stand outside and scream so other people can get annoyed. Get the point? Dogs bark, but the owners should care enough about the dogs and other people to bring them in or make them stop.

HarlequinSoul --- 13 years ago -

Also, a big part of the reason that 29 doesn't allow dogs left outside is because it gets very file even snow in winter and upwards of 110 degrees in summer. It's for the dogs health and safety not because ppl are whiners. I'm sorry, but I agree, sometimes you have outside dogs. I have a small inside dog, but some people have larger outside dogs and that's their business as long as they are cared for. I mean, I love my dog and would be devastated if something happened to him but he isn't a human, he is a dog, so he does sleep in his crate on the porch weather permitting. He likes it better, its his den.

CharlieWhiskey2 --- 13 years ago -

This technically isn't a website for complaints, it's a website for advice.
My advice is, deal with the barking.
Yes, it is rude but some dogs bark at everything and nothing. My friend's dog barks at ANY noise she hears outside when she's inside.
what if the owner cannot control barking like that? Yes, bring them in if they are barking and you're home but honestly, do you guys know when they're home? I'd say 1 out of the 10 people who have barking dogs are home.
