Soo I took two at home tests this weekend and they both came out positive, yay! I called the N Hospital this morning to come do a lab test, and they told me they will not schedule me for one until I am two weeks late...my period would start tomorrow...just a little disappointed, is this true???

Clinical Depression --- 12 years ago -

Cutting down on gross misuse most likely.

CorpsmanWife --- 12 years ago -

I called and was able to get a confirmation test that day. Did you call your primary care practitioner?

CorpsmanWife --- 12 years ago -

P.S. I was one day late

AnonyMISS --- 12 years ago -

Yes, I called my PCM's office. They asked me when my last cycle was, which was Jan 2. The guy told me I need to wait until Feb 13. Maybe he is new or something. I will try back at lunch and see if I can talk to someone else. It's torture to have to wait that long!!!!

CorpsmanWife --- 12 years ago -

Once you do go to have the test at the lab, you should be able to have results very quickly. I called back in 2 hours and they had my results. I could see them making you wait until you are actually late but 2 weeks late seems silly. If it makes you feel any better, my doctors here in NC want me to have an ultrasound to measure the baby and see how far along I actually am because my menstrual cycles are longer than usual and they can't get me into the hospital for an ultrasound until February 21...at 11:15 PM.

I would try again, and if they say you have to wait ask why? I remember with my first they usually wait til your issued period, but I was there and had previously had a miscarriage. And this time I didn't have a LMP since my last miscarriage so they had me to something completely different.

I hope they don't make you wait!! I'd have a fit :p

Ugh, so annoying! lol I just want to know for sure!! lol

CorpsmanWife --- 12 years ago -

I hear it is more likely for false negatives than false positives on home pregnancy tests. I would definitely call back and just tell them you want to be able to take it as early as possible. Fingers crossed for you :)

AnonyMISS --- 12 years ago -

I know right! I guess I'm gonna have to stop at the store and buy another test just to make sure. But I took the two in the kit and they both came out positive, getting two positives has to be nearly impossible...

Calimommy --- 12 years ago -

Ya it's hard to get false positives. It said something like if you did it wrong, medications can make a false positive. Really hard. Can't u call back and say you are past 2 weeks, lol. That would drive me crazy!

AnonyMISS --- 12 years ago -

I think I will call back at lunch and make up a date if they ask, lol. I understand them wanting to eliminate the risk for false negatives, but if someone has two confirmed home tests, and they're worried their test might not be accurate yet than that is ridiculous.

alwaysright --- 12 years ago -

It is most likely bc MANY women will get a positive test and then miscarry shortly after. Two weeks is not that long to wait. They most likely won't even see you for an appt until you are 10-12 weeks anyways.

Calimommy --- 12 years ago -

I had a miscarriage and I had the test really early. I am glad because at least I knew I was pregnant and knew what was going on. Some people don't even know they had one. That way you can wait proper time in between. You are right to I didn't even make it to my first appt. I was almost 13 weeks.

Susan --- 12 years ago -

I am sorry to have to tell you this, but NHCP, has a protocol, after all, they are the Navy, and don't do anything without an SOP or protocol. You have to be two weeks late, give or take...before they can order you a pregnancy test. IT was so grossly misused, that they put this in place about 2 years ago. it is also not a good idea to fudge first day of last menstrual period. This, then throws all your dates off. If there are certain circumstances, such as recent miscarriage, bleeding, etc, then they will give your phone call to the nurse and she can decide to order or not. Family Medicine budget went from like 5 million dollars to 1 million dollars, so they are trying to contain costs, and this is one way of doing so.

Maleficent --- 12 years ago -

Hey so yesterday I was told I could just walk in to do it at 31 area clinic (thats where my PCM is) and even though I have a ton of positive HPT they still said it was negative. Today I took a digital and a FRER and both were positive, yet again. So I wouldn't even worry about trying to go until you're a little farther along because unless the line shows up dark as heck within 3 minutes, it's a negative according to them.

AnonyMISS --- 12 years ago -

Maleficent: Thank you so much. That makes me feel much better about my situation. It sucks hoping your pregnant and then they crush your dreams, lol. I just want to know SOMETHING for sure! I keep telling myself that I HAVE to be pregnant, there is no way I can keep getting positive tests and not be. Hope to go the end of next week. Thank you!
