Why do people on PendletonYardSales.com sell "Coupons"?

i.e. (copied straight from someones ad on PYS)
"I have 5 Justice fun cards to use at the Justice Store in the mall here in Carlsbad. Basically you spend $50 get $25 off, that easy! Expires 1/31/2012

Want to sell them as a lot but will seperate if needed. Leave your number and I will text or call you."

I have the exact coupons that I'm giving away for FREE!! I did not pay for them. I received them as a "gift/incentive" for previously shopping there and spending a certain amount of money.

Someone please enlighten me....

That is too funny! There was also an ad on PYS with someone selling gerber baby food coupons. Come on people.

My daughter shops there if you can earn those bucks, you have enough money to give those to someone for free. Otherwise get priorities straight. We use them to be able to justify going there,

Because people use the earning of rewards at places like that, Gymboree, Kohls, etc in order to make buying their children's clothing more affordable. It is not a coupon, it is a reward. You spend more when you earn and spend less when you redeem. Someone would buy them because even if they pay $12 for it, they will still save $13 on $50 worth of clothing.

I understand how "rewards" work. I shop enough to receive them. Which when I don't use my "rewards" for any of the stores I shop at I give them away for free. I'm not petty nor strapped for cash.

Which I agree as to Calimommy said, if you can earn those bucks, you have enough money to give those to someone for free. Otherwise get priorities straight.

Then they should save them for future use...or if she's "needing" to make money off the rewards cards to afford the clothes she bought she should consider shopping some place that doesn't leave her hard up for money. Also, I highly DOUBT you can re-sell them, since they technically have no cash equivalent. I get it's "$25" off 50, but it's not a gift card, it's a coupon...a cooooupon. You have to buy a certain amount to get X amount off. That doesn't sound like a reward to me hahaha.

go on ebay. Everybodys "bucks" are for sale. :)

I don't understand reselling Justice rewards either. The math breakdown makes you pretty uneducated if you choose to buy rewards. Pretty much at any given point, Justice is either having a 40% off sale or has a 40% off coupon you can print. The $25 off $50 is basically 50% off if you only spend $50, but you can't combine their sale or coupons with the rewards. So for, at most, an extra $5 savings if you spend $50, how much is a person paying for/saving on these rewards? And if you spend more than $50, the store sale/coupon is a better deal (unless you are stacking rewards, which in case, refer to the above calculations lol).

....if they're so valuable then why don't they use them for themselves?

Champ --- 12 years ago -

I throw mine out from any store... but thats because like mommafur mentioned store sales are usually better. Plus I don't usually buy back to back. I buy a decent amount to last through a season. They have exp dates, and I'm not going to spend $100-200 then do the same the next month. It's more for people with shopping addictions in my opinion how they rationalize buying and buying. "I saved..." well did you really need anything to begin with. I don't need 50 tops in a kids size, knowing that it will be outgrown sooner than they will go through all of them.

Calimommy --- 12 years ago -

I use the bucks for Clerance stuff. 40% off is much better for sure.

I don't shop at Justice, nor do I participate in any reward programs. I was only trying to answer the OP's question as to why someone might sell them. It's been going on for a long time. I remember seeing people selling Gymbucks back in 2002-2003.

Clinical Depression --- 12 years ago -

It's not legitimate $$ without strings attached, the "strings" on the coupon are you have to buy $50, and for Champ, I looked and the t-shirts are $18.50.....you could buy 2.7 shirts with the coupon so I wouldn't consider that clothes hoarding lol. They shorten the expiration dates so that you feel "hurried" to spend them. Whenever I get them from Old Navy I throw them away, but I wouldn't go as far as selling them. I bought one thing from there and I got "$5 off a purchase of $70 or more" . Not worth the ink to print it out.

Momma2Fur --- 12 years ago -

The person on PYS selling them wants $25 for 5 of them. So basically, once someone buys them and uses them at Justice, they are only getting 40% off after paying the person who sold them the rewards. They could have saved the time and gas and printed a coupon for the same deal. LOL
