What housing is for Snco?
How does it work with tmo when you move out in town first? They re move when a house opens up?
What has been people's experiences with the wait list and getting a decent home?
All the help is much appreciated

SNCO I think have a choice between Copper Canyon, Joshua Heights, Marine Palms, and Adobe Flats. And to my knowledge and sort of from experience, TMO will only move you the initial move (out in town) but not back on to base. As for the wait list, it varies. I received my on base house in a matter of about a month. But I've heard of others that had to wait longer. 

Ask the 29 Palms housing office about a TMO move on base from town. I know Lejeune does it as they almost always have waiting lists. 

i actually miss 29 i mean i know its nothing to look at but the community was good..the cdc is amazing..and the secludedness was good and then you could go into town whenever you wanted to 

when we came to 29 from jhell we had to live in town for about 3 weeks. Tmo dropped our stuff off in town, then we got reimbursed for moving into our house on base.

It's been a while so it might have changed, but that was not the case in our experience. If there is no housing available to you at all and you must move off base and wait, they moved you on base once housing was available. When we got to Pendleton in early 2005 we had to wait 8 months for a 3 bedroom E5 house to be available for us. TMO moved us into housing once it was available. No idea about 29 Palms though, sorry. 

TMO will move you on orders for PCS as well as when you are offered government quarters. We lived out in town in Hawaii and Lejeune and both time TMO moved us onto the base from town one we got a house. Hawaii we weren't wait listed, Lejeune we were. 

I miss 29 Palms. I don't miss the lack of job opportunities, though. I applied to jobs the entire time I lived there and was never even called for an interview. I even applied to places like McDonalds (desperate to have something to do)..which I knew I was overqualified for. I feel like you have to know someone there to get a job. When we moved to Pendleton, I immediately got a job.

It's what you make of it, really. I had lots of time for the gym, cleaning, and hanging out with friends. I wish I had taken the time to do online schooling when I was there.

TMO must have dooped us. They wouldn't move us on base but it seems that others had better luck so that's good news for you a3426941uu!

This completely sounds like what I do. Now that I am supposed to be moving to Camp Pendleton, I am hoping they'll have the same tight nit workout group I have here at 29!
