So I go to court tomorrow for rolling a stop sign (even though i didn't) and not having proof on my insurance and registration. I had it in my trunk but just forgot I had placed it there cause I was updating registration earlier that week. Well basically, my question is do you just get points taken away or do you get fined and get your points taken away? This is my first offense, EVER, and I find it highly unfair to get ticketed for something as retarted as this. I don't think that they'll be able to really have me pay fines for my insurance and registration if I bring it to court. Any help guys?

I've Never been pulled over on base so idk how it works exactly but I'd assume it works the same as off base. My first ticket was rolling through a stop sign and I was given the option to go to traffic school or have te points put on my record I didn't go to traffic school in time and they put the points on my driving record. They also made me pay a fine either way but I can't remember what it was. I dont know if you can get out of the insurance and registration ticket though since they say it has to be in the car all the time but I could be wrong. I guess it depends how nice the judge is lol. Good luck in court!

If it's on base, you just get points.

Coming from the person that can't even spell retarded right...is that really a word you need to be using? And the law is the law, no matter how you feel about it.

As dot said though, everyone I've ever known of getting pulled over on base only got points off.

First off, I never said I felt anything about the law.. Only stated that I felt that it was dumb that I would get ticketed on my first offense when most people only get a warning.

Second off I never asked for your input on whether or not I spelt it right. That's how I spell it. So fucking what? I know how it's really spelled and I like spell it "retarted". Oh and yeah, I'll use it whenever I feel like it.

And thanks to everyone that responded to my question. That's all I needed to know.

Hmm couldn't be your rudeness that got you a ticket instead of a warning now could it.

You'll get points, they don't affect your license, not reported to insurance or DMV. No fine. You are allowed 12 or 18 points a year on base and come January 1 it restarts. Don't worry about it. I got pulled over doing 8 over and got a ticket for 3 points. Just take it as a warning for driving out in town.

You must be new guess cause you dont have a name. Dont take what people say personally on here. There is always someone who will nitpick what you say. Who cares. Blow it off. As long as you are being seen on base you will just get points like everyone says. Sometimes they will be butts and give you a regular ticket and you have to go out int own and pay a fee and it goes on your driving record. Relax its not a big deal. Just takes up your morning. Good luck

It depends. I got a ticket first month we were here for rolling a stop sign. And I could of paid the $279 or go to court in SD and fight it. Which I went and fought it bc I was already in my garage by the time the cop came and turned on his lights.

So you should call or go to the court date.

You eiether have to pay what it says or go and fight it. If you fight it and win then you dont have to pay it and you get no points on your record. But not sure what happens if you dont win most likley you will have to pay the fine.

puppylove --- 12 years ago -

How would they know if it's your first offense? Getting off with a warning is great but it may or may not be the drivers first offense

Champ --- 12 years ago -

You'll be good on the insurance send registration, all you have to do is bring proof with you.
(as long as they were effective before your ticket date)

I got pulled over in may for a texting ticket on college blvd. I did not have my registration or insurance on me because I was taking my car to the collision center. It was my first offense ever in my life. I was so nervous lol. I went to the court in vista about 2 weeks after I received the ticket. I showed proof of my registration and insurance and they deducted it, but there was still a small fee. Then I got fined for my texting ticket. All came out to almost $500, which I am still paying off. You can either do traffic school and pay a lesser amount, arrange a payment plan, or fight it. I did not go to traffic school because I wasn't going to be in CA for longer and did not fight it because I did not want to be there all day. It shows up on my driving record of course (because I checked) but, I am not sure how many points I get.

The LAW states that you must come to a complete STOP at the stop sign or the limit line or the intersection (which ever applies).

Most of the people that I work with are pretty understanding about things... BUT if you dont have up to an date insurance card, registration and driver license in your possession you are probably going to get a ticket.

The fines out in town are pretty stiff for those violations, and with the economy being bad, the out in town Police will probably ticket you every time they pull you over.

Base is points only (with the 1408 citation)... unless you are a civilian (or within 30 days of your eas) you can get the Federal 1805 Citation, then you have to pay and/or go to the Federal Court in San Diego.

It sucks you got a ticket. But I am glad they are pulling people over. We cross wire mt road to head over to the park and community center. Soon the kids will be crossing for school. I am so sick of people rolling through the stop when we are actual in the cross walk. That and when people start to go and your still not even close to the side walk. The other day someone actual went when myself, stroller and two other children were still on their side of the road in the cross walk. Its really really bad and its happened right infront of PMO who does nothing. A few months ago someone at 29 palms actual hit a stroller.

Tell that to the buffoons that I've sent to see the Magistrate for that violation.

I've gotten pulled over for rolling through a stop sign in the 62 area when I was leaving work a few years ago. But on base I think they just have a point system. I don't really know though since the MP just let me off with a warning. Then again I had proof of insurance and my registration. Good luck!
