Ok, I feel the need to vent about what happened at the laundromat today.
Normally, I just do laundry at home. The only time I even go to the laundromat is when I need to wash my king size comforter. This requires a really big washing machine. At the only laundromat here on base (still at 29 Palms till the 8th) there is only ONE washing machine large enough to hold the king size comforter.
When I got there, the machine I needed had clothes in it, and the timer was at 00, which means the close were done washing, and the door has yet to be opened. (It says 200 if it isn't in use) I had sheets to wash as well, so I started those in a smaller washing machine, and opted to wait for the owners of the clothing in the jumbo machine to come get their clothes.
After waiting 15 minutes, I decided to pull that "dick move" and remove their clothes from the machine (again it is the only one that is large enough to wash my comforter, it's not like I combined 3 loads of clothes in that one machine like the people before me did.) I was nice enough to put their clothes in a rolling basket that's always there, instead of on top of a machine or on the floor.

To make a long story short, I was at the laundromat an hour and 40 minutes, and the owners of the clothes I pulled out of the machine still had yet to show up. There is a big sign on the side of the wall stating you are not to leave your clothing unattended in the washers or dryers. I hate removing other peoples clothes, but I would probably still be there if I was waiting for them to come back for their stuff.

So, is this a pet peeve of other people? Or is it just me?

I've never stepped foot in a laundromat, so I say just you LOL, totally kidding :) I would NEVER leave my clothing unattended if I went to wash it in a public washing machine.

I wouldn't leave my clothing alone either. I would have out their clothes in a dryer, started it and left a note. I'm not sure if they would take it as a passive aggressive type thing or a good deed done but either way to me I would win.

I've never been to a laundromat on base. Do you guys have to pay to use them?

yes, though they usually cost less than if you went to a laundromat off base

Serra Mesa is the only one that doesn't have hookups. Everywhere else does..

They are lucky someone didnt come in and steal there stuff. I had a friend years ago that lived in Serra Mesa and on laundry days she would have to spend the whole day at the laundry mat doing her laundry because people were always taking everyones stuff. Gross.

I was gonna say my house has washer/dryer hook up. I think the only thing you have to worry about is whether it's gas or electric with the dryer. We are lucky and have both options so my electric dryer was perfectly fine. I was going to be so mad because it's a brand new front load set.
