I understand your frustrations, but you can't get too offended. You have chosen a very male-dominated field of work (and for that I commend you), so people will assume you're the dependent. Just like if someone's name is Billy, you'll assume he's white, and Tyrone is black. It's just the way our minds work.
I agree with Doc, I was really close to a female Marine and I asked her about a million questions, naturally I could not grasp that she was a Marine. It was cool to see a woman's side of things and how it works for them. I always tell her I do not know how she does it, especially working with all those guys. Sometimes I want to punch some of my hubby's friends, can not be easy.
Ya it gets pretty bad. Sometimes they guys forget were women lol Theyll be like hey Flo check out the tatas on that chick and Im like um HELLO I am a chick. ( and no I am not butch I am alllll female lol)

lol you should start replying with tampon talk when they do that

It never got that bad for me, the one time a male Marine said something like that around me I gave them all a long heavy speech. I informed them all she was a married woman and just like their wives I doubt her husband want's some other man talking like that about her. One of the guys said "you're really not one of those girls are you" of course I said "NO". After that every one watched their p's and q's around me. As for being treated differently in other ways as long as you do your job, keep up in pt and don't start drama it's not that bad. Pt seemed to be the deal breaker to them, I saw a lot of the females be treated poorly all because the men were mad they either got out of or couldn't keep up in pt.

In my husband's last unit, everyone was punished if someone felt out during PT. I'm all for everyone being allowed to do anything and everything, but if you're going to sign up for a job, be able to do it, all of it. I wouldn't blame my husband for being irritated if someone was causing him to be punished or receive more work because of their lack of capability. I don't think you should view co-workers as one gender or the other. You're either capable or not.
I know this doesn't apply to every female, but I guess it's just a sore subject for me...some parts of my husband's last MOS required physical abilities. Females would call him over and ask him to move something or do something not very lady-like that they did not want to do. That is wrong. You sign up for the same job, you get the same pay, so you do your share of the work.

I call bs and think you're lying. Just my opinion, but this seems a bit exaggerated. I've asked for help if something was too heavy for me to move or lift by myself. If somethings heavy, and I could have help moving it, why wouldn't I ask for help?
Girls and guys both malinger to get out of pt. Probably more so with guys actually, because females wouldn't want to be perceived that way. If anything, most female Marines would try to over exert themselves to try not to have to ask for help from a fellow Marine.
As far as it being a "sore subject" really? You've discussed this topic that much that it is a sore subject for you? Or, it just sounded good as you typed it????

Are you serious? Posts like this make you seem very immature. Why would I say it if it didn't happen?
I have seen a text on my husband's (then boyfriend's) phone from a female asking him if he would come move something or send a guy who would, and they had the same MOS. Many times females in his old shop would ask guys to crawl under trucks because they didn't want to get dirty.
Just another example...all of the females that deployed with his unit also got pregnant within a month of arriving in Afghanistan...so they could come home. Another example of them not wanting to pull their share of the workload.
I'm all for females wanting to be Marines...as long as they're the ones that actually do the required work. I'm sure they're a lot out there that actually do, just not the few I've been unfortunate to meet.
And yes I have discussed this topic in depth. I went to nursing school with two former Marines, who have become very good friends of mine, and we have talked a lot about what it was like when they were in.

I have a lot of call/text from men saying it's to heavy or I can't figure it out and ask for help. It's only turned into something if a female ask for help?

She said that's why? This is a SCORE subject for me. My best friend deployed with me, 3 days in she was raped. Hearing the horror stories of what would happen she made me promise not to tell any one. Big surprise next month she was pregnant....I ended up in a lot of arguments because every one in their brother said she did this to get to go home after she left, which was NOT true. If you don't know the story you really shouldn't say something. Another thing that bothers the crap out of me! We can have babies too, some of us choose to deploy and right before we get out have children. Even after a few deployments and none in our future people still said I got pregnant to get out of a deployment.
got pregnant within a month of arriving in Afghanistan...so they could come home. Ive seen it happen with my own two eyes, but its definately not the standard. Ive seen men do stupid things (jump off roofs) to break legs to avoid deploying. Again, not the standard, but it happens.
OP, the guys I worked with used to invite me to their weekly "support single moms" campaign. They forget that we are girls. They are males and when tatas are around, they cant process anything else.
Why the fuck is it always NOSEY ass wives who think they have a fucking clue what its like to be a Marine and they dont even have a close idea. I was married 5 years to my husband who was a Marine that was in when we got married and then I decided to join....sooo I know both sides and trust me as fucking spouse you have NO THE HELL IDEA AT ALL WHAT its like to be a woman and be a Marine so please I politely say SHUT THE FUCK up!

I know there are a several of us on here that WERE Marines and now are wives. Don't be so quick to judge, most of us do know both sides of the fence....
I get it too.. every time I call somewhere they automatically assume I'm the sponsor cause I'm a male.. nope, spouse here.
lol I was my husbands sponsor and it used to drive him nuts when people would people would try to explain to him what sponsor means. Everyone tried to explain it to him like he was confused and had dependent and sponsor mixed up.
I'm all for female's being the Marines because while it's something I would have loved to do.. I wouldn't be able to. Psht.. I have NO CLUE what my husband goes through.. just that I am the supportive wife when he comes home and has to vent of a bad day. I know some real good female Marines and some of those who seem to flaunt their cooch around the damn office because they're the only female in there.

There are all types....I have seen it too and those are the ones that give bad names to the good Marines
