Im interested to know what would be the best stay at home job for my mom. She said the other day she was going to start college but needed to take the career test to see what she should do. I laughed a little because a test isnt going to help her lol She has been a stay at home mom since she was 15 and I think she should get a certificate in a home style business job. All I know of is medical billing and coding...
What interesting jobs! I want to find something I can make an income off of at home. But I could never sell Scentsy or Mary Kay because I don't really use the products. Not that I don't like them, just not passionate about them.
Cake Maker....I have no patience lol. The first layer of the cake would be absolutely fabulous. The 2nd? A gooey, messy, impatient MESS.
Legal coding from home, never heard of it! Sounds interesting though. And the good money part is appealing ;)
It's tedious. It requires an associates in legal studies at a minimum. Most that do it are paralegals or legal secretaries. I make about $4k/mo, which isn't the greatest, but it'll do until I'm out of law school.
SoonToBeJD, is that the same things as a legal transcriptionist? My sister has been a paralegal for over 15 years and she now manages a decent size law firm but I still don't think she clears that much every month. I'm sure she would be interested.
Income varies on the size/location/type of law firm. It also depends on the level of education. I have a 4yr degree in legal studies, so I'll make more than someone with a 2yr degree. Legal transcription is almost exactly what legal coding is. Legal coding is different because it requires research whereas transcription is just transcribing the material.
One of my friends graduated from law school last year and landed a great job at a firm in DC. He makes around $180k/yr to start and that's not including bonuses. My aspirations are more in that range.

MSN had an article the other day about high paying jobs that need less education and an air traffic controller makes around $100,000 a year with less than 2 years of school. Basically it was comparing how much money people spend on school to the pay of their jobs. Not sure why but your comment reminded me of it lol Wish I could go to law school, I would loose my mind the first week :)
And education can be overrated. People take out huge student loans and then can't get jobs. Most new lawyers make around $75K. That's not bad, but when you have $200k+ in student loans it's horrible. My friend is a minority... but he works his butt off and went to one of the top 5 law schools in the nation and graduated top of his class.

It's like Drs. People think they make a TON of money but they really don't, esp with a ton of debt.
I don't know about that... my dad is a cardiologist and he does very well for himself. You only pay a certain percentage of those loans each year. People with well-paying jobs generally pay their loans off faster and can then just enjoy their profits. This is my experience; not a coverall statement. I know my friend didn't go straight out and spend everything. He's already paid off 50% of his loans and he just passed the bar last summer.
I am an Independent Beach Body coach :). I sell their products as well as help others get on the right track. I promote the shakes & workout programs. I love my job even if I am just starting out!!
I sew dresses, tutus, aprons and purses and sell them. I have an etsy site, but never really got too into it because I was selling at local craft fairs in Oregon. It wasn't so much for the income but because I love sewing and needed to do something to support my habit, lol. I am hoping to change that once we get settled in.
What kind of degree does she have and how much does she make annually?
no degree, but she's been doing medical transcribing for 15 years now.
She was making $80k two years ago. They moved back to Montana and i lost touch with them so i have no idea if she makes more now or what she started out making.
