North Deluz peeps. There was a baby bobcat in our backyard last night. Didnt see mama but if junior is out there then mama isnt far behind.
Its a very interesting color. It looks like a baby tiger or leopard so if your kids see it they will probably try to play with it. We live in no pet housing but in the event that you do have some, I would keep them pretty close.
I can only assume they have come closer due to the fires up in the mountains recently. I took a photo because I knew no one would believe it! We've been in this house over four years and have seen a lot but never a big cat.
Its a beautiful cat but it will claw your eyes out. lol
pretty sure it didn't just come out to play...lol. cute but i'm assuming pretty hungry. i saw a bigger one last week on deluz rd heading towards oneill heights. they're out in full force around these parts.
Hes cute and that is what worries me. My four year old keeps asking if it will come back so she can see it again. I did a bit of research on them and they arent generally out in plain sight unless they are displaced, hungry or both. That makes it more dangerous. So just tell your kids, I guess-- to stay close. Our house backs to the wildlife area and we see all sorts of creatures.
When we have wildfires its always worse. I think Oneill (right behind us) is pet friendly and they will attack a small pet.
I've seen them over by the naval hospital before. Inform the game warden on base that you had spotted one. They can harm children. They also have attacks periodically.
which base housing do you live in? its a beautiful animal but also a scary thought that older kids out playing for the summer could get attacked. I would let housing know to warn all housings at least so everyones children know not to go near it..
I called the game warden, non emergency PMO and went to our housing office. I have also told the neighbors. My main concern is the kiddos. I took all the obvious steps. I posted here so there is an awareness. We live on a wildlife preserve so animals are everywhere but sometimes we let out guard down. Well, until I saw the 7 foot snake two weeks ago. Im on red alert. I wont go outside for WEEKS! lol
Uhhhh Yikes.. only wild animals I come around are the obvious chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits!! I'll be just fine if thats all the wild I come across lol

I had a bobcat cross my path a few years ago while I was running at Lake O'Neil. I was by myself and thought for sure I was going to get attacked. Thankfully, the cat just looked at me and then ran off towards the lake.
