Hi! My husband has been put on AR, and we just filled out our housing app. Could someone please tell me how the housing selection works? Like when will we know where we live and do we have any choice in it? If so what are the best places for an E4? We have one 4M old son and are hoping to have more soon. Also, any extra advice would be very much appreciated as I am very new to this all. Thank you so much!

Hi, welcome to the group. You will not qualify for a bigger home unless one of three things happen. 1) you rate higher and get more (promotion) 2) you have another child or dependent (must have child before you rate more space-pregnancy doesn't matter, live birth does) and 3) they have open spaces in areas interested. I recommend finding where your spouse will be working. Most housing is nice, but there are bad houses in good neighborhoods. Best advice is see what is available and decide what you need. If you do not like the houses they have available, living off base can be a good idea until one that you like opens up. Good luck!

Pendleton is pretty large, knowing where he will be working will help narrow the choices. Plus with only one child, you only rate a 2 bedroom but sometimes they have enough open homes they will let you apply for a three bedroom.

I can't link on my phone, but Google Lincoln military housing for Camp Pendleton. There's a link on their website with current availability, plus other links for the various housing areas.

Pregnancy does matter. I'm doing this right now. You just need proof of pregnancy from your doc on their letter was including due date.

Thank you for your comments so far :) I was also wondering if they will give you a house, or if they will give you a couple houses/ neighborhoods to choose from? I'm not picky, I would just like to be prepared. Also if anyone knows the answer to this, it says on the orders that moving before June 15 will not be reimbursed but we live almost 1.5K miles away so we need a few days to drive, is it ok for the movers to come on like June 13?

If it says June 15th, I wouldn't touch anything until June 15th. What is his report date? They usually give you some travel time, even if it's only a couple days.
