So my husband just got the Kirby vacuum that cost too much.. Agree that it cleans very well but its really expensive, I wonder if i should return and cancel it since we still have the chance to do that within 3 days..
DOes anyone had it and if u like it or u regret it?

TweedleDee2 --- 12 years ago -

I was just talking to my husbands Gunny at a party this past weekend and he said he just purchased one.

He said YES its $$$$$$$ but it does work VERY well.

No matter how good, I just dont think I can dish out that kind of money for a sweeper/shampooer

We have had a Kirby for several years now. I love it! It is expensive, but there is a lifetime warranty on it. They last a long time, and if you ever need something done to it, then they take care of it. Mine is an older model, and it is still working great!!! Definitely, better than having to buy a new vacuum every so often. It is one of the best things we have bought!

KnightRider --- 12 years ago -

My husband insisted on buying one right after we had our son. They showed us the demo where they pull up all the hair and stuff out of your carpet and my husband was determined to not let our son crawl on our "dirty" floor lol. I agree that they do vacuum very well. However, the replacement bags are kind of pricey and the shampooer adaption doesn't really clean like you think it would. I would suggest taking it back and just dishing out the cash for a new vacuum and a separate carpet cleaner. But thats just my opinion.

eidle --- 12 years ago -

Hubby just purchased it lastnight for $2,500
and i was trying to cancel it this morning and they gave me a huge discount and went down to 1K!!
but we pay cash for 500 and on the 15th for another 500..
not bad at all.. its pretty cool deal...
I wonder how much u guys pay for it..

Some people live for only a $100 vacuum and they live perfectly fine.. :) But at the same time this vacuum really cleans well especially we have 2 small kids and one on the way..

KnightRider --- 12 years ago -

I think when it was all said and done we paid 1,200. My husband's dad got one and he told them that he would pay 500 for it or they weren't going to purchase it lol.

but anyway they took our old vacuum that cost $500 we bought that in Japan and its also a really nice one! I guess 1k better than 2,500 and its a lifetime warranty anyway..

Yea

Everyone I have known personally that got one, regretted getting it.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 12 years ago -

Growing up my mom had one I swore I would never get one. After I got married someone gave us one. I hated that thing, couldnt get rid of it fast enough. We have 3 kids, I watch kids and a dog so our floors get a lot traffic and those stupid wood chips from the park. We have a Bissell pet vacuum, we've had it for 4 years and it works great. My husband takes it apart every six months or so and cleans it out but it still works like its brand new. And we have a Bissell carpet cleaner that works so good. We had the 2x that worked great and was going on 4 years when my husband surprised me with the new Bissell lift off carpet cleaner and its great. So easy to do my stairs and couches. For both we paid under 500. They work great. Kirbys are heavy and the parts are expensive. And not to mention if you get stationed some where they dont have a kirby store and it needs work. My moms had to go in a couple times a year. It also always seemed to need a new belt. Ive never had to replace the belt on my Bissell. My advise is RUN. Tell them to come pick it up.

I'm so happy with mine, but there is no way I'd ever pay $2500 for a vacuum. Seems like most people pay $1000-$1200 but I have seen a few lower. I paid $300 for it plus all the accessories but I bought mine used.

puppylove --- 12 years ago -

I bought a Dyson over the Kirby because I couldn't spend that much on a vacuum and I love my Dyson. The friends that I know like their Kirby but say its a pain to drag it around the house. If you take care of any vacuum cheap or expensive they can last.
I also personally like the idea of having a vacuum and a separate carpet cleaner. In my mind they work better that way.

Shufflin --- 12 years ago -

You have to be high to pay that much for a vacuum.

SoonToBeJD --- 12 years ago -

My Nanny has a kirby that's she's been using since the 60's, supposedly lol

mushibolin --- 12 years ago -

I bought one last August and I'm still making payments, and will be until next August/september. Good vacuum, but super heavy and I don't notice anything different then a regular 50 dollar vacuum. Unfortunitly I waited to long to try and return it, needless to say I feel scammed. Buy one on eBay or Amazon if you're really interested in it

penny --- 12 years ago -

Dyson all the way!!!!!!

LauraLee --- 12 years ago -

Good vacuum, but super heavy

This is why I just got a Dyson. I have a canister vac now and I love it.

jallyse --- 12 years ago -

Does anyone have the new number that Kirby sellers go through for accounting? The number I was given when we bought ours is no longer in service and I have no other way to get ahold of them. >.

CivMP --- 12 years ago -

Kirby Salesmen are the devil... they are NOT allowed on base, unless some nimrod invites them... but, NO house to house.

If you see them, call PMO.

Most of them have criminal records!

Kirby Salesmen are the devil
Haha, I seen that and actually started laughing. I hate Kirby, we had one cause someone gave us one when we got married and I hated that thing. Dont waste your money. And dont let those crazy people in your house. If someone comes to your door and offers to clean your carpets say no and close the door. Dont wait for a response. They say what they have to to get into your house and then never leave. Be careful also they do not do criminal background checks on the sales people. 20/20 did a story once where they employed a rapist and the employee went on to rape customers.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 12 years ago -

Be very careful who you let in your house, just because they are on base does not mean they are not a bad person.

Dtigerlily4ever --- 12 years ago -

Dang this is crazy. A Kirby guy came to my house the other day and tried selling my husband one. I was on the couch and I got up and told him that we didn't want one and he told me that he would clean my carpets for free. I was like what ever. He said he would be back to clean them that same night. Luckily he didn't come back :-/ Thanks for the info.

Also kinda off subject but those "Prime Selection" guys bug me too!!! I thought they where not allowed on base also.

a3728266uu --- 12 years ago -

Yeah... I finally had to get blunt with them after they came every week for two months straight that we were not interested and they were not to come back to our house and we would call them if we changed our minds...

CivMP --- 12 years ago -

Prime Selection is not supposed to go door to door either.. if you call and order from them, they can deliver.

call pmo and IF they get caught, they will be run off.

accountnickname --- 12 years ago -

Years ago when we lived on CP I let every door-to-door salesman know they weren't allowed there and would they like me to call the MPs to help them confirm it. Every single time they said no thank you and left the area immediately without any more sales pressure. I would NEVER allow someone I don't know in my home, and I answer the door with my 90lb dog so no one will try to push in either.
