POLL: What would you do?

My daughter is 6 but looks like a 9 year old (she is 4 feet 2 inches and 60lbs). She is going to cheercamp tomorrow on Mainside. We have been back at Camp Pendleton for 3 months (this is our third time living here). Would you let your child stay alone on the other side of base by herself at the camp? My husband is gone so I have no idea what to do. Please help. I trust my child its everyone else that I do not trust.

How she looks should have nothing to do with it, she is still only 6.

I totally understand it but even the kids where we live think she is way older I totally understand what you are saying.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 12 years ago -

Is it a daycamp type thing? Those are meant for parents to drop there kids off and leave.

Poison Apple --- 12 years ago -

Even a 9yr old isn't mature enough to be left alone anywhere. Much less a 6yr old. Just because she looks older should have nothing to do with your decision in leaving her alone. Be logical.

Do you stay with her at school all day?

PrettyInPink --- 12 years ago -

Just like YouReallyThinkSo said, if its a day camp your supposed to drop your kids off and go. My daughter is 7 and starts soccer camp next month on mainside, the coordinator told me to drop her off and pick her back up when its over. I might stay and watch her for a little while just so I can see what she's learning, but that's only to be involved in this experience with her.

I completely forgot to put that yes its a day camp. I contacted the camp cordinator and yes I am suppose to drop her off. thanks ladies!

Momma2Fur --- 12 years ago -

A day camp, yes. Anything else at 6, no. I have a 9 year old and she has cheer practice 10 hours a week. You bet I drop her off! She's responsible enough to handle being with 3 adults and 12 girls without me present.
