I started a FB page called "Military Families for Better Education". I set it up because I have come across too many people, including myself, who have had issues with the school that were handled inappropriately or not at all. The page is not only for Stuart Mesa Elementary situations but for any DOD school. If you "like" the page you will see what information I've gathered so far. I thank anyone in advance and I look forward to turning one voice into many. 

What about the other Oceanside Schools since that is what Stuart Mesa is under? 

The page is focused on DOD schools since there is such a discrepancy with how they are handled vs their civilian counterparts. And even though schools on Camp Pendleton are non-DOD schools they are located aboard this installation. I want the page to focus on DOD schools and schools located aboard military installations. I guess what I'm trying to do is to just bring a voice to other parents like myself who feel that things are not handled properly aboard military installations when it comes to our children's educations. Stuart Mesa isnt a DOD school. Its Oceanside school district. 

Oh ok, just like YouReallyThinkSo said, its an OUSD school. We dont have any DOD schools on Pendleton. 

Even though its on a miltary base, the base doesn't have much to do with the school. Oceanside School district controls them and sucks! The school board sucks and we need new board members who care about Children. As far as DOD schools they are actually cutting back. My neighbor just told me Camp Lejeune schools just switched from DOD schools to the public school system there. 

If you have had a problem with Stuart Mesa Elementary please email Dr Duane Coleman at dcoleman@oside.us My husband spoke with his assistant yesterday and we were advised to email all of our concerns and encouraged to get others to come forward. It's not enough for us to complain to each other. We have to complain to the people in charge. It's why I made this post yesterday. I'm trying to get enough support to let them know that they can't ignore us.

Lejeune is still DOD run. I think more parents would oppose that move than support it. Onslow County schools aren't the best by far.

They just finished a new DOD school here too.

The town schools are undergoing re-districting, but it won't affect base schools at all.
