Do you love them or hate them? Personally ME, I love them. I think they are a some what essential part of baby showers. But I know a lot people hate them. I'm co-hosting a baby shower and the other gal said she doesn't like games.

What do you y'all think?

jallyse --- 13 years ago -

Love them but don't go overboard. I recently went to a shower and they planned about 20 games or so, maybe more I'm not sure cause I ended up leaving after about 3 1/2 hrs. But they were fun games though.

The diaper cake is always a fun game. Make one and have everyone right down their guess.

Diaper cake game? Do the guests have to guess how many diapers are in the cake?

BaylesObedience --- 13 years ago -

what are everyones fav games at them im planning a friends and have no idea where to start (sry to thread jack)

BadMomma2 --- 13 years ago -

worse game i have every seen is a dirty diaper game and you had to sniff to guess what was in the diaper. imagine a melted mooshed up chocolate candy bar in a diaper or mud or bettys choc frosting smeared all over a diaper. hated it

best game was the baby food feeding game. 2 people, 1 blind folded and she had to feed the other person baby food.

The one I was at, we played "musical bottle" that was pretty fun. And we had a tournament style game of what team can put a diaper on the doll first. Try that one

Calimommy --- 13 years ago -

Ya, you guess how many are in the cake.

I hate baby showers that play long games and it drags make it short and fun...

jallyse --- 13 years ago -

I agree with BadMomma, I hate the diaper game.

that sounds soo gross

BaylesObedience --- 13 years ago -

what kind of things did u give out for winning

Giggle Butt --- 13 years ago -

Best game was: have a partner. Can only use 1 hand. Player a: left hand player b: right hand. Fastest team to properly diaper the toy baby or stuffed animal wins :)

Ps: I love the melted candy bar diaper game! Lol

Then, there's guess that baby food flavor.

Or - get yarn and everyone gets to clip the yarn to guess moments tummy size around. Closest wins.

I was thinking of having maybe 10-ish. There will be lots of gals there. And my co-host only wants to do three. That makes me really sad. The games I wanna do are fast, easy games. Nothing that will drag out the party. And I don't know if it's tacky, but I referred to PINTEREST for homemade gifts? I have a few ideas, as I'm known as the "crafty/best cook/DIYer" in my group of friends.

So here's my other question, IS IT tacky to give homemade gifts, at a baby shower, as prizes?

Vod Kaknockers --- 13 years ago -

My favorite was (if it is co-ed) the guys take a baby bottle (with a newborn nipple) filled with juice, first one to finish it wins.

One game or activity that was cool was guess the belly size with toilet paper or string. We also had paper bags with baby items in them. You can only feel the items inside.

Ive been to a ton of showers...
Games we've played
Draw baby on a piece of paper on your head
Wear a clothes pin & if someone crosses legs, u get the pin. Person w/most wins.
Rice & safty pins. your blindfolded & the person who gets more pins wins.
Babyfood jars, have to guess what kind it is by just looking.
Match celeb parents to the kids names
Guess how many jellybeans/m&m in a jar.
Name as many nursery rhymes in a given time.
Hang clothes on clothes line with baby in arm, phone in hand.
Get as many clothes pins in hand without dropping them.
Guess how big moms belly is w/t.p. or yarn.
Box w/dif baby items, u feel inside & have to guess what was in it.
Ok I think I did too many (i still have more games)...lol

We played that at my shower and everyone had a good laugh with it.

I enjoyed the baby food tasting game at a couples baby shower I attended. The men, of course, were put on the spot and my husband could pin point every single one. He even guessed that the turkey one was dark meat. Weirdo... we don't have kids.

I enjoyed the 20 questions type of games as well, ie how many centimeters before you push, old wives tales true or false kind of stuff. However, it was really difficult for those who were unfamiliar with medical terms or pregnancy.

I also like "How big is Mommy's Belly" and other simple games like guess how many jellybeans are in the bottle. Guessing games are fun, quick, and keep most guests around. The best part of some of these games is that the prize is the thing that you were guessing on, ie the baby bottle full of jelly beans is the prize.

As for homemade door prizes or thank you tokens, mini baby bottles filled with candy are cute. Cake/cookie mix in a jar always looks pretty. Theme shaped chocolates are fun and a make for a nice little thank you gift as well, ie stars and moons, animal shapes, or classic baby shapes like rattles, babies, diapers.

Also, places like Michael's and the dollar store come in handy when looking for those things. Keep them fun, simple, cute, and silly like candy filled rattles, hand sanitizer, lip gloss, candles, etc.

For larger prizes, I find it neat to offer a basket full of prizes to choose from. The prizes make no sense like cute note pads, silly pens, large candy bars, gift cards, or kitchen utensils. They are random which makes them fun.

My favorite game was where we had to pass around baby food and guess the flavor.

MissJay --- 13 years ago -

I'm planning a shower too! The only game I don't think I saw was baby item bingo.

But I have a question. What are some good food ideas? We were thinking of catering but I kind of like the idea of homemade food lol. I was thinking salads, wraps, veggies/fruit trays and some dips. Thanks ladies!
