Orthodontist? ;)

PuertoRicanReina --- 13 years ago -

Was wondering if anyone knows a good dentist for someone scared of dentists and does good braces at a good cost. I have Tricare and Delta Dental with my job. I want to get them right after I have my baby.

lol yea orthodontist. I couldn't remember how to spell it so took the lazy way out lol!

Dr. Hennes at Shadowridge Orthodontics in Vista is great.

How old are you? Tricare dental only covers braces for dependent spouses up until the age of 23.

Also, going to the orthodontist is a completely different experience than the dentist. Nothing to be scared or nervous about at all with ortho.

Dr. Allen off of College and Oceanside (near Albertsons) is great

That doesn't sound pleasant at all. Are you going to go with ceramics this time? Or Invisalign? I'd definitely get your case started and have the orthodontist bill the insurance right away. The insurance usually pays out ortho cases in installments. The day you turn 23 the payments will stop.

Good Luck!

Awesome I am calling today. And yes I have to do ceramics because my weird self is allergic to metal, it caused my whole mouth to swell up

I had to get braces, for the second time in my life too, and i went to the Pendleton Family Dental on base. They're prices were reasonable. I had to put $200 down and they do 12 monthly installments of $75.

Dr Olson in San Clemente is AWESOME!

No, that is for family members (non-spouse). That is what it says in the benefit booklet.

Taken from that Benefit booklet.

Orthodontic treatment is also available for spouses and National Guard and Reserve members up to, but not including,
23 years of age. (In all cases, coverage is effective until the end of the month in which the member reaches the applicable age limit.)

So yes it is.

It us up until you turn 23. I just was there getting them on this week and they went over this with me. I turn 23 in april so i definitely will be paying them off before then so i don't get slammed with the extra costs.

Where is the ortho on base? My husband needs braces and the insurance won't pay unless he gets approval from his CO or something like that. To avoid the hassle we're just going to pay out of pocket. He refuses to get invisalign, he wants the regular metal ones since they will be quicker, which is true. So I was looking for places off base but if some ladies here recommended on base I'll look into it. Is the overall cost cheaper on base then off?

I'm pretty sure active duty has to get approval before they can get braces. My husbands friend was injured in Afghanistan and it messed up his teeth pretty bad and he still had to jump through a ton of hoops so he could get them.

YouReallyThinkSo --- 13 years ago -

My husband said you have to be non deployable for them to even think about letting you get braces.

Also is there an ortho/dentist that can do everything? I am looking for someone who can more or less make a "plan" for me, and do everything in stages (including braces) I have never had dental insurance, and have been to scared to go even though we've had united concordia for like a year now. I need a lot of work done!
