I'm fricken hurtin bad! Had 5 contractions in an hour was 2 cm Thursday was up all night in pain and now I'm 3 cm but naval hospital wouldn't admit me. While I was there they saw me have a huge contraction and still sent me home WTF??? 

You have to be 4 cm or contractions have to be 5 mins apart and last for a full min before they will admit you. Unless your water breaks before any of that, then they will admit you.

Plus you have only dilated 1 cm since Thursday, that really isn't a lot.

It might be now, before I had my daughter they told me 5 mins, for a hour, or something like that. That was 2 years ago. 

I could be wrong, I always held off as long as I could. I felt better being able to walk around in a place I found calm.

It took you two days to dilate 1 cm. You have 7 left to go before its show time. Do you REALLY want to be in the hospital all that time? Honestly...?? They arent going to give you pain meds at 3cm.
I'd much rather be in my own house where I can eat/do whatever I want and shower in my own shower for as long as possible. Whats the rush? 

What would admitting you do? Walk, sit on an exercise ball, etc

I was chilling at home in bed until I got up to go to the bathroom and my water broke as I stood up. I didn't really feel any contractions until my water broke then I was in so much pain I couldn't move. When they admitted me I was already at 6 1/2 cm. 

True.... But I am having contractions that are keeping me up all night so I guess I'll have plenty of energy to push huh lol. Also just saw how mad I was I spelled head wrong lol 

I agree with staying home as long as possible. That was our plan with our second. The only reason we went in early is because when my water broke there was meconium. 

No rush just in pain (duh) lol 

FLO if the contractions are that bad take a warm bath/shower, try to relax, read a book in the bath. The warm water will help. 

Flo is this year first? I labored from 11pm-11am and I got a sudden rush of energy by the time it was time to push.

Possibly, but when your water breaks your contractions will become closer, longer, and harder.

ETA: Also most of the time it isn't a gush of fluid it is a steady flow, so even after getting out of the tub there would be a flow of "water". 

I was fully effaced and dilated to 3-4 cm for 2 weeks before my contractions became 'regular' enough for real labor. I didn't go in till my water broke. Glad I waited...I still had 24 hours of hard labor after I got there. *I would be happy they're not making you camp out there for any longer than you have to. 

Have you lost your mucous plug? If so a bath might not be a good idea. Maybe a warm shower would be better. 

i vote a shower instead of a bath, baths usually slowed down my contractions and lying down did as well. walk around as much as you can

Why not? I'm honestly asking, I would think if you can have sex up until your water breaks, even after losing your mucous plug why can't you take a bath?

They say no baths after your water breaks. You can bathe during early labor/ Braxton hicks.

I think you would know if you were in a bath. I felt my water break both times. The second baby I has enough to time from the time i felt the pop to when stuff came out to get off the couch. 

I've read all the horror stories about not being admitted and in tons of pain on here. My water broke, they had no choice but to get the show going. Lol.

I will say I will never get an epidural again. My first two natural labors were much better. 

Actually baths in general increase the risk for vaginal/urinary infections. You are just more susceptible when everything is 'opening' up.

When my water broke there definitely was no 'pop.' Just a small, steady trickle...as I was walking around Wal-Mart :) 

They sent my wife home at 8am, my daughter was born the same day at 8pm. This was with our 1st child so we had no idea what to expect, or how bad the contractions needed to be in order for them to accept us.

So, we ended up waiting to long to go back since they sent us home that morning, and we didn't want to get sent home again. My wife ended up not having time to even take an aspirin for the pain.

Sorry. I get your point 100% but all I could think was, "thank god cuz she'd bleed to death and the baby could suffocate". LOL I have been studying for TOO long!!

Lol no not my first :) none of my waters broke they broke them both each time and contractions didn't pop em they popped em right before I started pushing! :) I didn't start having contractions till last night so I don't think I dilated any third fri or sat till night time :) I am home now taking a bath. I handle pain well and the only reason I went is because the contractions were strong And from what I think and my past babies I did lose my plug

My rant I guess should read they told Me to wait till I was 4cm how the hell am I supposed to know that Lmfao
