My husband is getting out in January, or earlier if he goes on terminal leave. Well, he's doing his classes to get out this week and they told him that his last 2 checks will be held so that they can make sure he doesn't owe any money to the government. Umm, excuse me? You want to take our last 2 checks, for how long?? How do they expect us to pay our bills while he locks on another job? I was worried enough about him getting out, and now this. Does anyone have any idea how long they "hold" your money for? I've never heard anything about this before.

When I got out of the Navy (with terminal leave) they didn't hold any of my money. This was in 2006. But maybe the Marine Corps is different.

ThatCajunGirl --- 16 years ago -

are you talking about TAP Class? Yes, except he added some extra stuff at the end that I don't know what he said. TAP/TEMPT? I dunno, something like that he called it

Sha-Sha --- 16 years ago -

Oh wow.. I didn't know that.. i get out next year so thats good to know.. but damn talk about last minute finding. But never to late to re-enlist.. LOL just jokeing!

Harleys and Horses --- 16 years ago -

Shana: Is he in country or deployed? I just talked to my hubby who went to TAP class last week and I asked him about that and he siad they did not say anything to him about it in any of the TAP classes that he has been to, He almost got out before so he's been to like 3 TAP classes I think.

I've heard about this. They are probably going to go over all his paperwork and once they know for sure that all his stuff is in order you'll get your checks. But that totally sucks, you'd think they'd know by the time his EAS was up if he owed or not.

CPPrincess(Mystic chocolate) --- 16 years ago -

dont u have to check out w/disbursing??

SoonerGirl --- 16 years ago -

I thought so.

I have the same question. My husband will be getting out in about 11 months and I had heard that they hold their last to pay check. Is this true? If so when do they get it back?

SoonToBeJD --- 12 years ago -

They don't hold it, but final pay is delayed. It shouldn't be the last 2, just the very last one. There's extra work that goes into calculating it. It can take up to a month to process. I EAS'd on July 23rd, 2011. I should have received my final pay on July 15th covering the 15th-23rd. However, I got no pay on July 15th and got my final pay on Aug 1st.

deya --- 12 years ago -

Oh okay. Thank you!

shizzlemydizzle --- 12 years ago -

Wasn't the pay on July 15th to cover the previous 2 weeks, then the last pay on August 1st covered the 15th- 23rd?

Pay isn't given in advance of being earned...

They "hold" it to audit you then pay you out..lol. Not like they're trying to be mean or anything. BUT do start saving so when he does get out you're prepared for the delay. The MC loves taking money from people, but it's hard when they have to part with it haha.

My hubby got out July 13,2012 (went on terminal 6-13-12) he didn't see any pay till August 15,2012. But he sold back days and stuff.

deya --- 12 years ago -

So when was his last pay before aug 15? Did he not see any pay since 6/15/12 until Aug/15? Sorry for the questions but we want to start getting ready.

Clinical Depression --- 12 years ago -

If his EAS is within 10 days of the next payday you will not get paid that coming payday ie. if he gets out from the 5th-15th/20th-30th you will not see pay until the next 15th/1st. If he gets out around a holiday it'll take even longer.

BooksRbetter --- 12 years ago -

He saw pay July 1st.
