Tx-Wife --- 15 years ago -

Sorry im asking bc friends little sister is 17 and she wants to marry this guy but he is a marine and my husband said you have to be 18

☆Blessed Mommy☆ --- 15 years ago -

Ashleigh really? There are so many that have none. To be honest I was trying to figure out how to spell my name when I signed my marriage certificate.

MiDwEsTwIfEy --- 15 years ago -

You have to have your parents consent. Just like in any marriage if your underage!

Just MerBear --- 15 years ago -

old enough to be able to read, comprehend, and follow OPSEC ;)

Jack Hass --- 15 years ago -

No, the question should be what is the IQ cut off IOT marry a Marine.

Mrs Patch --- 15 years ago -

What state does she live in? Lol

Tx-Wife --- 15 years ago -

Tx

MarriedMyHero --- 15 years ago -

and follow OPSEC ;)  YES!

Ashleigh$DDCTTT --- 15 years ago -

To be honest I was trying to figure out how to spell my name when I signed my marriage certificate. That's damn funny!Sorry im asking bc friends little sister is 17 and she wants to marry this guy but he is a marine and my husband said you have to be 18 With parental consent. Why on God's earth do you want to get married at 17? Except in very rare occasions that is a recipe for disaster. You don't even know who you are at 17 and most 17 y/o don't have the brain growth yet to comprehend what love and a marriage is really all about. I don't care who you are or what you say, a 17 y/o is not yet emotionally mature and not ready for this type of commitment.

My friend married her Marine when she was 16-ish? he was 22 at the time. True Story. :-)

You can join the Marines at 17 so I don't see why you can't marry someone who is 17.

Bo§§ Lady --- 15 years ago -

The question should be "how old do you have to be to be able to handle the MC lifestyle?" Answer: there's no real answer. Some 18 yr olds could handle and live on to be married 20+ yrs and some 30yr old can't stand to have their husband away on duty.

Thread Killer --- 15 years ago -

Marriage is based upon state laws. Whenever the state she lives in says that she is allowed to be married, she can get married.

sorry for the dp

☆Blessed Mommy☆ --- 15 years ago -

Well I got married at 18. I am happily married but do wish I would have gone to school first. I don't regret getting married. I would just suggest living a lil more. Definately make sure she knows what she is getting into.

Avash1177 --- 15 years ago -

Sorry im asking bc friends little sister is 17 and she wants to marry this guy but he is a marine and my husband said you have to be 18 Doesn't it depend on the state and whether her parents agree to the marriage and sign off on it?

Thread Killer --- 15 years ago -

I would suggest making sure she has a highschool diploma in her hands first.

Lover&Fighter --- 15 years ago -

15 with a parental consent. 18 without consent.

Ashleigh$DDCTTT --- 15 years ago -

I would suggest making sure she has a highschool diploma in her hands first. Definitely. Life's so hard without it.

Pasha --- 15 years ago -

I got married when I was 21, but if I could go back and do it all over again I would have waited until I was done with college to marry....and definitely would have waited a couple of more years to have kids. I would have finished school and worked and seen what it was like to be completely on my own with no help before settling down, getting knocked up, and totally becoming dependant upon someone. I would suggest to any young person to wait until they have finished college and established their own independance before marrying.
