We are trying to move right now to another housing on base. They came to do a "suprise inspection" this morning and apparently there are little spots in each of our rooms with carpet....no pets just a 2 year old.....we've lived here for 14 months does anyone know how long you have to live in a house until housing pays for the replacement carpets??? He told me at the worst it'll be $1400 to replace it all but they take all our bah as it is so it'll take awhile to pay that and apparently we can't move until it's paid for... just wondering if anyone else has had this problem any input helps :) thank you!

5 years before they will pay to replace it. Have you had them do your free carpet cleaning yet? You get one every year. I would have them do that first. Little spots normally aren't a concern mainly big ones or any urine/organic stains.

Once you put in your 30 days you can't get your free carpet cleaning.

Call and ask for a copy of the work order for the carpet on your house to prove how old it is and make sure it's correctly prorated down based on a 5 year life span. They said you will owe, but will they still charge if you can clear the stains?

**Sorry, even though she's doing a transfer it's unlikely they'd do the carpet cleaning, if they won't do it for people who have put in their 30 days. Worth a shot to ask!

Do you have USAA? If so and you have to by chance pay for the carpet USAA will cover it. Well if you have renters insurance with them. They will pay you back. You just have to send them a copy of the bill you paid and pics of the carpet. Went threw this when I lived on Pendleton.

I was reading that its better to have USAA pay lincoln directly because a few people have had issues with Lincoln saying they were never paid and trying to get more money or something. That would be my route. That's also what well do when we move.

USAA will cover carpet replacement? Even if you have animal stains? Good info to know...

Yes but you have to be specific that its military housing. They don't cover it for anything else. They cover up to 1 months of basic pay in housing damages.
