Just wondering if we live on base and our lease is up, are we able to move to a different housing area? We currently live in a 2bedroom and saw that there were some 3 bedrooms available in another housing area and 2bd applicants can qualify.

From my experience, we were unable to move elsewhere on base. We initially moved into base housing being a 2 member household because at the time my physical timeshare with my daughters was 50/50. Housing was offering 2 bedrooms qualify for 3 bedroom house so we took it with the each of my daughters being able to each have their own bedrooms. When I got sole custody of my daughters and added them to my husband at ipac we figured now maybe we can move into a bigger house. Figuring that “technically” our family has grown since we added my daughters. We went from a (what they see on paper) 2 member household to a 4 member household. Unfortunately, they informed us that the only way to move from one base housing to another base housing would be; (1) I get pregnant (2) sponsor picks up rank or (3) move out into town for a while and then move back onto base. I understood their reason being that we are “properly accommodated” as each child has their own room and we have our own room.

sounds like your trying to move into stuart mesa. They sound like they are really trying to move people in so its worth a shot. Esp if your moving out of a higher demand neighborhood.

I live in WM3. When I called to inquire about moving into either South Mesa; Stuart Mesa; or any San Onofre with our recent "family number increase" (on technicality) that was the response they gave me.

By all means, give them a call and see what they say. i was just giving my experience in that attempt of doing the same action.

YES u Can! I lived in Santa Margarita with Lincoln. We have one child. I was considering on moving out in town BUT came upon De Luz (who is run by Hunt). I put in an intercommunity transfer form, they did an insoection of my santa margarite house, submitted my form up through several people and then it was APPROVED. I was offered a 3 bedroom in DE luz which I love! I have 1,700 sq ft, 3 bed, 2.5 bath, and A/c. We still only have one kid, my husband DIDNT pick up rank.. SO YES u can move! DOnt keep fiving lincoln your 2,025 for a crappy 2 bedroom! Such thiefs!

Lincoln will not let u move to another housing area if u dont have the rank or family increase but u CAN move to De luz n get the extra room!

In pregnant and we live in a 3 bedroom with Lincoln. If its a boy I would like to try for a 4 bed because I have 2 girls that are way too far apart in age to share a room (11 and 4) and the little ones will be 5 years apart when the baby is born. If its a girl I'm fine staying in the house and there is not a huge hurry since baby will be in our room for a few months anyways and I'm not due until Oct. ANYWAYS, for those that moved- does your house have to be perfect I be approved for be move or is it just like regular where you pay for whatever is wrong (our carpet :/ ) and they let you go?

Clinical Depression --- 12 years ago -

Can't have more than $250 in damages, but even if you have more than that I"m sure they'll let you pay it and move-it always depends on who you talk to.

OP: Unless your spouse goes in rank or you have more dependents, to move within Lincoln you have to move OFF base then re-apply.

Dang I doubt our carpet is under $250. On the plus side Its the only thing wrong. Ah well.

If you have just cause, then yes. Remember, it costs money for them to "fix up" and clean your house to prep it for someone else. If you are looking at moving from Lincoln to De Luz, then maybe it will be approved because there are so many available in De Luz and they are the competition for Lincoln. Often if you say you are looking at De Luz instead (in a nice way), Lincoln may be willing to work with you but it still has to be approved through the military side of housing. They are the ones that want the "just cause" to move, Lincoln doesn't really care if you were willing to pay the costs for them to clean up your last place. Try it and see where it goes! If the housing you are looking at is much farther away from where you currently are, and closer to the Marine's work, that may be an argument. Good luck and hope you get a better/bigger place! We looked all over on base and so many of the 3br were too small to hold all of our stuff. We are moving from out in town in San Diego. He was stationed at Miramar and was transferred to Pend 6 mths ago and we've been trying to maintain this house. We ended up taking a house in Wire Mountain even though he works way up at the northern part of base because the house is larger than Stuart Mesa and they wouldn't give us a house in San O 1 and San O 3 has a super long waiting list which we don't qualify for. Let us know what happens!
