I read Taxis aren't allowed on the MCRD? Is that true, does anyone have any experiences?

I can't imagine them not being allowed, if not, I am parking at the TAD lot (how far from the gate is it?), any suggestions for luggage? I have two large bags that will be awful to walk across a base with...

I am calling PMO tomorrow, but I am hoping for a solution, I am a planner and being alone it scares me not having a plan. :(

My husband took a cab all the way to the barracks at mcrd.

My husband can't remember, but I swear he told me way back when, that there were a few cabs literally waiting around the airport when he landed. 

I just took a taxi there last month from the airport. As long as you have a military ID, it should be fine. He didn't drop me off at the front gate either, I was parked in the back near the parade deck. 

No one has answered about where the TAD lot is located in proximity to the front gate. I would like to know too because I plan on parking there when we go home on vacation. 

If you go to the USO, they have a shuttle that takes you to the TAD lot. You can also take a taxi and they will take you there as well. The TAD lot is not far from the gate which you enter. I want to say like 2 or 3 blocks. You also have to make sure you check in w/ PMO (next to the gas station) and let them know you're leaving your vehicle there. They will give you a PASS to post in your vehicle. Once you park then you can either call the USO shuttle or a taxi.
