Just to let everyone know if your car's transmission ever breaks to NEVER NEVER choose AAMCO in Oceanside on Oceanside BLVD. They get you hooked by charging a manageable fee of $800 then they have your car on the lift with everything broken down and hit you up for a $3800 charge to get it repaired. 1yr/12,000 mile warranty. When I told them this was TOO much money, they started being rude and HIGHLY pushy. Told them to take it off the lift and took it over to Oceanside Transmissions on Coast Hwy. Friendliest service that I have ever had. Their charge was 2500 after tax. A far difference from the $3800 AAMCO wanted. AAMCO is Greatly OVERCHARGING their customers and taking advantage of our military members and dependent spouses while husbands on deployment. Please DO not ever use these Crooks.

Smittys OSide Garage screwed me over in that area, too. Turns out one day he just bailed and left customers cars in the garage and his wife to deal with everything (that's what the neighboring business told me). 

BellaLaVie- your totally right about Smitty I was actually one of the customers. I paid with a loan I got from NMCR AND totally got screwed. He took off any left everyone hanging.

He messed up my rotors that I had him put on which in turn messed up my brakes. Along with some other things on my vehicle he didn't do correctly. Not fun paying for it all twice. When I went back to complain - he was gone. 

Good for you standing your ground. At least they followed the law and told you before they did the work. It is illegal for a mechanic to quote you a price do the work and than charge more. Thats why they have you sign something with the quote so you cant turn around and say they quoted you less. We swear by Teds never had a issue, they have always fixed our car in a timely manner, done it right and the cost is always lower than everyone else. But if you go there with a attitude, or dont listen to what he has to say he will tell you to take your car some where else. My husband was a mechanic for 8 years before joining and is very picky about who works on our cars and he wont use anyone else. Good luck. 

I took my husband's truck to that AAMCO to get a tune up, they did some standard maintenance and changed the spark plugs. Cost us about $800. About a week later, the truck was making all kinds of noise and would stop running whenever we got to a stop light. Turns out, the work they did was ALL KINDS of screwed up. They refused to give us our money back, and they refused to fix it without us paying extra, so we reported them to the Better Business Bureau. 

that sucks. conovers tire and automotive on oceanside blvdis run by a christian guy from our church. he does and awesome job. very helpful. 

this is why I do 95% of my own work! 

if you get ripped off with BAD or not complete work You need to file a report with DMV on fraud work they also go after them
