So i am wondering why the new gate going into Oceanside only has two gates open usually? The marine corp spent all that time and money and the head ache of trying to get on base while they were building it and now they still let everything back up it is BS.

Almost everytime we come thru the gate which we go thru alot its the only gate we use. There is always 2 ppl on one gate. Or there is 3 standing on the side chit chattin.

There is enough ppl however those ppl dont want to do their job they rather stand around. 

You can ICE them. I did it once cause it was so packed we were stuck on the freeway and this was the 4th time it happened and it was the same time of day every time. Its so dangerous. I got a response back right away and to this day we havent been stuck on the freeway again. 

Sometimes they dont have enough people. The guys standing on the side are overwatch. Making sure that nothing bad happens. Like an extra pair of eyes. Not saying that they weren't possibly slacking when you came through. But they dont have the man power to have all the gates open and backup on the side. 

I agree.... I have literally sat in line for 15-20 minutes to get on base. RIDICULOUS.

First people complain about the security of who gets on base and now that they're cracking down on it, people complain about how long it takes to get on. Never ending.

I know, my husband said its worse at other bases. I'm kind of sick of people complaining about how the mps aren't doing their job, when thats not the case at all. In order for them to have someone at every lane, so you wouldnt have to wait longer than five mins, sentries wouldnt be able to rotate on and off. Meaning they wouldnt be able to have a break and would be standing on their feet for twelve hours straight. 

It's a shortage of manpower.

One of the platoons regularly sends THREE sentries to the main gate... The Original T/O calls for EIGHT.

Those "guys standing around" are usually supervisors or patrol units who have other issues to deal with.

With Three sentries, the maximum lanes available are TWO, the third sentry needs to man the gate house and act as overwatch. 

I dont mind the waiting, its where its dangerous. Like being stuck at a stand still on the freeway. 

If thats the case and you know you need to get back on base during a busy time of day ie before work hours, lunch, after work hours, then choose a different gate to go in. (if your safety is what you are concerned about) 

People will never be happy. If people are waived through to move the line along, then they aren't being strict enough. If there is a long wait then they need to move people along. You know how traffic builds up. Don't like it?? Choose a different route. 

Try getting on PI during Family Day or Graduations every week on top of the normal morning traffic. Ugh. Only one gate and one lane going across the causeway.

Lejeune isn't bad if you live out the side gates, but that main gate is a nut house.
