My family and I just moved to Pendleton about a month ago, I've been searching for a job but have had no luck. Human resources on base wasn't much help. Does anyone know of places hiring? I'm desperate at this point so as long as its in North County I'm not picky about positions.

Temp agencies

Fuego --- 13 years ago -

Craigslist?

Many places want you to apply online, so start Googling places and applying.

Good luck finding a job, my teenager is looking for a job too.

SouthernDream --- 13 years ago -

Places are hiring just depends what you want.. starbucks, walmart, exchange, etc are always hiring or if you are looking for a office job then try temp agencies.

positivlywrong --- 13 years ago -

Yeah I've been on Craigslist and submitted many applications online. I just don't feel like that's the best way to apply for jobs, your can't really market yourself through a generic application online. If that makes sense....I'll keep trying though. I'll look into a Temp agency too, thanks!

SouthernDream --- 13 years ago -

there are several temp agencies in the north county area even some agencies here in san diego work with employeers in the north county area.

indeed.com is a great job search engine

Fuego --- 13 years ago -

I get what your saying but the fact of the matter is, almost ALL applications are done online and are generic. I remember when I was a teen all we did was walk in, fill out a simple application and were hired on the spot.

job hiring is very hard now a days..

As others said try temp agencies.

Also try....

Indeed.com
LinkedIn.com
Simplyhired.com
Glassdoor.com
job-hunt.org
monster
careerbuilder

There's a whole slew of others, just start Googling :)

Do NOT go to linkedin.com. They were hacked a while ago. Yahoo had a huge story on their front page a few days ago, but here is another article on it. Info about LinkedIn.com

You can also sign up for usajobs.gov and helpwantedsandiego.com(heard about them on the radio).

Most places do not want to have people fill out applications because they are legally responsible for them. Your best bet is to make a resume and either walk it into places (like pacific marine, mccs, the commissary) or post it online (like uasjobs.com, monster.com)

You can also walk into your nearest community center (like annum rinke) and ask if they have any job postings.

I believe my company is hiring but I don't work in North County. I work in Orange County.

I know of a few people who've gone to AppleOne. All of them have succeeded in finding a job through them within a month of applying.

Jersey Shore Chickie --- 13 years ago -

I know a few companies that are hiring if you have atleast a Bachelorette in Chemistry, Biology or Biochem.

Shufflin --- 13 years ago -

Sprouts in Carlsbad is hiring.

Yes, they were hacked, and with any site that gets hacked you change your password as a precaution. Just like when PU was hacked.

I also had a bit of a hard time finding a job when I got here too. Upon checking in, my husband had to stop by the Marine & Family Services Building on mainside, they have a GREAT two day class there about resume writing and opening you up to different job resources. I HIGHLY recommend it. It may even be your resume, thats what my problem was. You can sign up for the class via the MCCS website, click Register for Classes and you will see it on there. Go! You won't regret it!

Temp agencies will re do your resume if need be and give you a copy.. i have never had any issues (knock on wood) with temp agencies thats how i have gotten all my jobs in the MC life style

positivlywrong --- 13 years ago -

Thank you all so much! I have a resume but I do think it needs work and I wasn't aware of those classes or much else you guys mentioned. I will try them all because like I said I am in desperate need of a job! Also its just been difficult not knowing anyone our here and still getting to know my way around.

I just remembered!! North County Coastal Career Center, off Avenida De La Plata and Oceanside Blvd, they have 2 week hands-on workshop that you can sign up for. There they will help build/modify your resume, tips on interviewing where you actually practice as if in an actual interview, and many other resources in looking for a job. They have job fairs pretty much once a month if not 2 months. And its all free :)
