So I know there are a few meaning behind putting things on your front porch for example the "tide bottle thing when your husband isn't home. But what does it mean when you hang a water pitcher from your front porch? Just noticed one on the neighbors and didn't know if it had some weird meaning new to base so just curious?

GardenWitch --- 13 years ago -

What's the tide bottle mean?

3Kleebs --- 13 years ago -

....are they making sun tea?

Poe --- 13 years ago -

They like it by their flowes, ya know for when they water them.

None of that stuff means anything other than people have too much time on their hands and are inventing ridiculous fantasies.

sheraelyons --- 13 years ago -

No its a water can for like watering the flowers. The tide bottle I think its suppose to mean that if your husband is away you put a tide bottle in your door then it means your lonely or need company? I saw it on a post a month or so ago. I was just curious my husband noticed it and ask me and I wasn't sure just being curious and nosie I would ask her but she has relatives over.

Again, none of that means anything. Go ahead and put a tide box in your window and see if anyone actually shows up.... lol I know there are these ridiculous "old wives tales" that it means something, but it doesn't.

I've only heard of the broom thing (didn't hear about it until 2 years ago on one of the undergrounds) I asked my husband about it, he said "yeah, I've heard about that" and then I laughed thinking of all the times my husband has swept the walk way and left a broom by the door, but I seriously doubt people are roaming the neighborhood looking for random items on porches and then stop by unannounced.

Poe --- 13 years ago -

Women do men don't. Its a way for bored house wives to gossip about what their neighbors are doing.

I once left a closed XL dog crate by my front door for a week. I'd like to think that was secret code for "I have a big dog who will eat you."

champatlife --- 13 years ago -

what you mean it didn't mean you were in heat and wanted a large number of Marines to come over, play video games, and eat all your food?

Gosh, I would have totally misread that scenerio.

champatlife --- 13 years ago -

oh wait that's for small kennel, large dog crate is yahtzee for two?

accountnickname --- 13 years ago -

I know, shocking isn't it? I should keep a watering can near my front door though, maybe then I would remember to water my potted palm by my door. o.O

GardenWitch --- 13 years ago -

The broom has to be upside down....get it right ladies!!

ooorah69P --- 13 years ago -

I heard that same story years ago as well.

And if it's a push broom...serious party time! LOL ;)
