How do you guys feel about?

I had my first child induced at 39 weeks, it was a personal choice and everything was fine. I am currently debating if I wanna ask to be induced again for personal reasons.

AZbound --- 13 years ago -

I was induced with my daughter but I was a week over due. I would never induce any sooner than that. I think it's selfish & can be risky...but everyone has their reasons.

Vod Kaknockers --- 13 years ago -

I was kind of induced (membranes stripped) with my daughter, but at 38 weeks I was already 3 1/2 cm and she was already 8 1/2 lbs.

JediMommy --- 13 years ago -

I have heard of some women who want to be induced around 37 weeks which is crazy but i would never ask before 39 weeks.

I was induced with my first because of my husband deploying 3 days after my due date and My dr actually suggested 39 weeks instead of my due date.

I am debating having it done this time because it lets me have a little more control of timing when none of my family is coming out because they are from east coast and not having that many friends out here is hard with a 2 yr old and not knowing when its going to happen.

I elected to be induced at 39 weeks. It was a personal choice and I had no issues with the induction. I would do it the same way again if I could.

Cruising4Fun --- 13 years ago -

I was induced at 38 weeks with my second because he had IUGR, so I had no other choice. I had a hard time handling the pain and wished that labor would have been natural like my first, so that I could have forgone painkillers and an epidural. I think natural is the way to go, but it's your choice and yours alone. Whatever you feel is best for you and your baby is all that matters. Good luck!

I to kind of be induced at 36 weeks because my water broke. But I had the option to be induced at 34 weeks due to baby size and my blood pressure and sugars.

MaliceInWonderland --- 13 years ago -

I started having issues at 37 weeks, but didn't get induced until I was 41 weeks, 6 days.

Wisconsin Sarah --- 13 years ago -

Im scheduled to be induced a week from today :o( I am hoping she comes before then! my due date was yesterday

Maureen --- 13 years ago -

I've been induced 3 times only because of medical reasons. I didn't know that you could request induction!

I was kind of induced (membranes stripped)

Gosh that's painful!

Vivacious St0rm --- 13 years ago -

I got induced when I was 4 days over due, they had set the original due date on my son's 2nd birthday so I asked if we could bump it a few days so my Best friend and mom who came down would be able to be there for it.

I got induced at 7am and had her at 1011am Via C-Section...

When they broke my water her hand slipped down over her head so she was coming hand over head first so they had to do a c-section

I agree, the doctor had the nerve to ask why I was crying.

Mom25 --- 13 years ago -

My last two were induced, primarily due to medications to ward off a miscarriage, but also because of our location. (MCB Quantico) Traffic there is insane and I labor fast...DH was also in school and could not take the customary 10 day leave. (He was given off to be at the scheduled delivery and the day I came home)

If you choose to do it again, keep your membranes as long as you safely can. The membranes act as a natural pain buffer (wish I knew this the first time)

If you need to plan due to childcare for another child, Doctor's are willing to work with you, just go as close to 40 weeks as you can.

Good luck...exciting times!

xloux --- 13 years ago -

I dont agree with getting induced unless it is for medical reasons. Also husband deploying is a pretty good reason too, but I can't think of any other reason other than medical.

Why do you want to be induced again? I had to get induced with my first, and I hated it sooo much.

JediMommy --- 13 years ago -

Its not like i wanna be induced at like 37 weeks or anything like that. Its i wanna be induced near my due date. Its mainly because we have a 2 yr old and none of our family is coming out. SO it helps if we can plan for someone to take care of our 2 yr old while we are at the hospital.

HavingaBOY --- 13 years ago -

my coworker was induced at 8mos because her amniotic fluid was gone, and they didnt have much of a choice. But her baby come out with undeveloped lungs, but is a healthy happy loud baby now! :)

I am planning on it happening on its own...but i will do whatever i need to get the baby out safe

AnonymousWife --- 13 years ago -

Is it true that inducing is more painful than naturally going into labor? Both of mine were induced, but never dialated to more than 6 cm (after 27 and 32 hours of labor), both ended up being c-sections. So I have no idea what natural anything (about labor) feels like.

Wisconsin Sarah --- 13 years ago -

My OB said its not necessarily more "painful" ... it can take longer and contractions can be stronger

I am trying to convince myself stronger contractions do not equal more pain since I have to do it next week haha

Cruising4Fun --- 13 years ago -

My first labor was natural and lasted 18 hours. I did it without any drugs or an epidural and I felt the pain to be tolerable. I never once lost my composure and never even raised my voice. I kept calm and cool throughout the entire 18 hours. My second labor was induced due to medical complications with the baby and I was in tremendous pain from the moment the pitocin drip was started. The contractions were soo strong it was unberable for me. I really wanted to go without drugs, but I caved after four hours and got an epidural, which to this day I still regret. I was in labor with the second for 10 hours, so it was shorter then when I went into labor naturally.

SoonToBeJD --- 13 years ago -

When I was induced, I didn't find the pain to be unbearable. I went from 0-6 cm before I opted to get my epidural. It's different for everyone. From the time I started pitocin to the time I delivered was just under 7 hours.

Hokey*Pokey --- 13 years ago -

my first labor I wasn't induced, but it didn't progress very well on its own so I recieved pitocen. As soon as I got that stuff, BAM those contractions were strong, painful, and back to back. It was horrible (until I got my epi). My second labor I didn't need pitocen and while it was still painful, it wasnt nearly as bad

Wisconsin Sarah --- 13 years ago -

Im on board for the epi ASAP lol

hihi --- 13 years ago -

i had to be at 36 weeks and I wish I didn't ..
