where did you get their ears pierced and at what age? im trying to get info. my husband and i have been fighting over this, i dont want her ears pierced and he does, just trying to gather info on how old she needs to be and where in oceanside we could get it done and how much it cost, and how the pain was after and caring for them and such. let me know thanks :)
Piercing pagoda at the mall, 6 months for one baby, and 13 months for the other. As long as she has had her first set of shots you can get them done. It was 32 dollars both times. It was easy to care for them and they hardly touch em
We took our daughters to Claires both times. The child needs to be at least 6 weeks old, and have their first shots. I was pleased both times. For my second daughter we went to the Claires in the mall off the 78.
Oh, never mind my first daughters was done at claire And they a NOT even. i was PISSED one was angled down more then the other. I called and complained they said take it out we will re do it. Ok who would do that to their kid :( Id never go to claires again
did it seems to hurt her ? i just feel bad cause i saw a video of a friends daughter getting them and if she cries as much as she did when she got her first shots ill feel so bad :( would it be best to do it now so she wont mess with them, she is 2 months old and has had her first shots

Both mine cried for less then a minute. I would do it while she is younger rather then older. cause older they notice them more

Same here...We actually went to McDonalds first and brought fries with us so she was given food right after and minimal crying because her mouth was full ;)
ohhh smart idea... she will only be 2 months but ill have a pacifier ready and i guess its the best time to do it since she wont mess with them hopefully
I haven't done my daughters. I always figured she could just ask me to get it done when she wants it. Thats the way my mom did it with me so I just stuck with that. Although I kinda wish I had done it while she was little because I know she's gonna freak out whenever she decides she wants it. She's a bit dramatic and it DOES hurt. lol
I will do it for my girls (they are 4 and 2 now) when they are older. I was thinking the summer before they get into middle school I would take them on a girls day to get lunch, manicures, and ears pierced.

that is what i feel and my mom feels, it was my choice ya know.. i dont want her being like well what if i never wanted them and you ruin it for me or something?
I did my daughter's when she was old enough to ask for it and understand what it really meant.
I don't know if I'd give a small child food to keep them from crying. With pain or fear from having it down, they may get upset or cry anyway, and having food in their mouth could cause them to aspirate.
I waited until my daughter was 11 months but that wasn't by choice since we were stationed in Japan. I had them done at a piercing pagoda in Ohio and I was very happy. Sometimes if they have the staff they can do both ears at once, if not its one at a time.
I don't have any kids, but if I did, I would NEVER get my child's ears pierced at a place like claire's or piercing pagoda. These people are hardly even trained. Those piercing guns are not sterile, they have been used on so many other people! When I have kids and if they want their ears pierced, I'll pay the extra money and take them to an actual piercing shop.
Also, I got my own done when I was 7 at a place just like Claires. My holes are uneven and I can't wear heavy earrings anymore because on one side there is barely any skin left under the hole to support the earring.
My personal feelings about it are that I will wait until my daughter asks me for it. I don't judge others who choose to do otherwise, because the kid's not going to be traumatized or anything. But for me, I just couldn't watch my baby girl cry and not know why.
My husband was really strict and said no that she can't have them done until she was 12. He let her get them done when she was 6 or 7. We let it be a choice for her. She's now 9 and hasn't worn earrings in probably 6 months.
My daughters were done when she was 4 months old. When she was 2, she started pulling the earrings out. Now that she's 3, she LOVES changing them out to match her outfits. :) I think it's absolutely adorable. I wish I would have waited a little longer because there tiny ears aren't quite developed. BUT, if she had them done at 2, then she might had ripped a big hole in her ear from tugging. Since they were done young, her hole was formed and and didnt close up an I was able to let her go a few months without the holes closing up.
Dang that was a lot to type on a phone. Sorry if there's typos. :)

agreed!
I think they look cute but I could not bring myself to put my daughter in pain for no good reason. Plus if you wait until they are old enough to ask it then it can help them learn responsibility having your child laern to take care of her healing ears and keeping her earrings picked up etc
I took my niece to get her's done at about 20 months. I got them done at iceing and they came out good. They did both ears at the same time. She didn't cry just looked surprised when they pierced them.
My hubs asks every day if we can go and get my daughters pierced. She's 3.5 months old and I'm just not sure if we should get them now or wait. When I was pregnant I was all for it but since seeing her get her first shots and nearly crying myself I just don't think I could see her cry like that again :(.
I had mine pierced when I was 6 (I asked for them) but then I refused to let my mom clean them or change them and begged to have them taken out. So the holes healed up and I got them re pierced when I was 13. So it wasn't much better for me to wait until I was older and "wanted" them.

I've always wondered why people think that. I've yet to meet a grown woman who felt damaged because of her pierced ears. lol My mom pierced mine when I was 2 months old and I haven't worn earrings in years. I don't like them. I'm not mad at my mom because of it. ;)
Claires, she was 3 months old. She cried only because her Daddy was holding her head still and arms down. As soon as it was done and he let her go she stopped crying.
My SIL got my niece's done when she was 7 months old and she pulled on them until the back popped off. My daughter has never bothered them she just thinks that it is part of her ear and that is how her ears are suppose to be (she's only 2).
We waited until my girls were 7. (my husband wanted it to be their decision.)
And I thought he was right, except after we got them peirced my girls are such... babies, It has been about 6 months and they stillwhine anytime hair touches their ears, (thiking their hair will pull it our) and forget changing the earings. grrrrrr,
