There is a recipe on the back of cream of mushroom soup cans. Or French's fried onions can but I like the one on the soup can better. You add soy sauce to it.
Thanks, yea I was looking online but was just wondering if canned grean beans will taste the same or will it give it a different taste then fresh cut green beans.
2-4 cans green beans 1-2 cans cream of mushroom soup American cheese 1 large can of French's fried onions Salt and pepper
Pour 1 to 2 can of green beans in a casserole dish (depending on how large you want to make).
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cover green beans with cream of mushroom soup (1/2 to 1 can depending on how many green beans you used). And using Campbells does make it better for me.
Apply a single layer of American cheese.
Sprinkle with fried onions.
*Repeat this whole process again so that you have two layers.
Bake at 350 to 375 covered with casserole dish until well heated thru and top just starts to look crispy and brown. Shortly after crispy the fried onions on top can burn.
Thanks for posting this...my bestie usually makes the green bean casserole for Thanksgiving Day..she won't be here this year and I'm stuck making it myself...I'm scared. I've never made it before, and it's my hubby's favorite.
My husband will go to the store and buy all the stuff we don't have just so I'll make it. He says he could eat it alone for dinner. I'm glad he likes it because it's easy and I don't cook a lot. That's his job ;)
Nope never had it but i bet its good... For sides we usually have Chicken or Turkey Dressing (Stuffing) Sweet Potato Casserole Potato salad Turnip greens or Collard Greens Deviled Eggs H*ll I cant name it all....
Im making mac n cheese so that I dont go empty handed to my inlaws house. LOL. AWESOME recipe too! Im gonna blow my sis-in-law outta the water with it. LOL
To me, my sister doesn't cook hers long enough. Just kinda heats it up. I like to see the cheese bubble.
When you take the GB casserole out and the cheese and other stuff look and smell like bubbling melty goodness it is hard to contain yourself ;) I have even sent my husband pics while he's at work of it cooking just to tease him. Everyone should try it at least once.
I would do bad things for homemade mac n cheese like my mama bakes in a cast-iron frying pan.
I use frozen green beans and I try to find the french cut kind. I used to use canned/french cut, but when I switched to frozen veggies instead of canned (to cut down on the sodium in my diet) I liked it better with the frozen.
I've never made it with fresh.
I use the recipe on the French Fried onion package.
Oh, sweet potato casserole makes my heart happy. My dad's family used to have a farm and grow their own sweet potatoes. I even love them mashed. But best is sweet potato pie. Yum. You peeps are making me hungry.
