I used a Kinderkord a few times with my youngest when he was younger. I used it when I took all 3 kids to ComicCon by myself and when we were in really busy parts of theme parks. He was going through a stage where he wanted to be independent and walk but with 3 kids, only 2 hands and really busy places I wanted an extra measure of safety. I would hold his hand as well.

Calimommy --- 13 years ago -

I think it depends, if I would have put in on my middle child it would have been insulting. He was well behaved and never ran off. My youngest runs away, in a large crowd it would make me safe.

I use one with my 2 year old cause he doesnt like being pushed in strollers or carts so when we go out anywhere we put it oh him but he likes it cause its like a little backpack and he has his cars in there.

I was one of those people who used to see it and be like Oh NO No No never would do that, look like a dog on a leash why oh why....lol (Before I had kids and was single) But now that im married with a one year old and a newborn. Im so for it! My one year old is a hand full point blank! sO i HAVE THAT BACKPACK ONE ALSO!Helps out alot! Plus its safe, people are kidnapping kids.

Sometimes I get that look from people like WHHat tha Whaa>??

I did it with my daughter once or twice and honestly, it didn't work well with her. She would just walk/run until it pulled tight and she would fall. We just taught her she needed to stay with us and hold hands. It took a while but now she's great and walks with us perfectly.

None of the above.
when the situation arises, yes.
My husband's friend got one for his 2 year old when they had their wedding on a boat. It was a simple way to make sure he was ok without being distracted during then ceremony.
Just walking around, nah not really.

cede --- 13 years ago -

I think 100% absolutely not.

Giggle Butt --- 13 years ago -

I did with my son. Especially when we were at the mall. There had been kidnappings in the area. He was too bug for a stroller (wanted to walk) and too young to listen. (2 years old)

I used it for large crowded areas like Sea World as well.

vada --- 13 years ago -

I've never used one but before my youngest I was one of them that was like why would you ever do that LOL.. my first two were angels compared to my last. so after having my "wild" child I can (although not for everyone)definetly see the benefits of using them.

My middle child (2) has a bad habit of running off at the most inopportune times and she refuses to sit in a stroller or cart anymore. If I know we're going someplace packed with people (airport or theme park) or someplace dangerous (park with a cliff, boat, etcÂ… ) I'll pack her pink doggy backpack that has a leash for a tail. Most of time I don't need to put it on her, but if she starts acting up, I'll put it on and keep the leash tucked in the pouch, where it's hidden, but also easily accessible if I should need it.
