When Emmy first came from the shelter, her medical condition was so severe that the kennel was not an option. She was nursed back to health in the comfort of a foster home, and two weeks ago we thought she finally had her happy ending. It just wasnt meant to be. Emmy is coming back today. Her original foster home is not able to take her in due to a change in circumstances. Unless we can find a foster home quickly, Emmys only option will be the kennel.
We have tried to protect this little girl for so long. She is almost completely healed, only needing one oral medication. Not only will this be a major setback for Emmy in her healing process, but it will also mean we have less room at the kennel. We already have two dogs scheduled to come into the kennel on Thursday from death row. If we cannot find a foster home, we will be forced to leave one of these dogs behind.
If you can foster Emmy or help foster another dog and make room for one of the dogs coming in on Thursday, please message me.
send me pictures of her and pm me the info on her .. i might take her from you an take care of her. I do have a 7 year old boxer that would love to have someone to play with
I must say that the before picture is not indicating severe abuse- I am not trying to scare people or guilt them into helping. She developed a skin condition due to neglect. Those are not abuse wounds (at least not that we know of). But look how far she has come!
Just found out new information on Emmy. It looks like she may be hard to foster...But if anyone is willing to foster another dog, that opens up a kennel spot for one of the 2 dogs we are picking up on Thursday. If we don't get a foster for either Emmy or another dog, then one of those dogs will be left behind and put down.
I dont know if you saw Emmys story on the website or not, the horribly neglected demodex case. She is healed mostly now, just needs to take Ivermectin each day, an oral medication. When she came in, she had her sister. She has always had someone between her and the world. It was Enya, and then her foster family. Now that she is almost healed physically, she needs a home that can help her learn how to be a confident German Shepherd. She needs a strong, confident dog in the house (most likely male), who will not let her get away with being stupid. She loves to play with other dogs, but she doesnt know how to meet dogs. Her reaction to everything that she doesnt know right now is to bark and back away. Kramer and the Chihuahuas were very submissive dogs, so she did not have anyone to follow. When dogs like Emmy cant follow, they lead. Since they dont know how to lead, they are pretty much lost and in almost every case do everything wrong.
Long story short, she needs a home that can help her heal and help her learn. At this point I dont know how much a very short term foster would help her seems to be having a hard time adjusting to new things.
She did fine in her previous foster home when she was left alone with the other dogs. In her new home, she didnt like being left and broke out of the fence.
She does not feel comfortable with children, so children are a no.
I dont mean to sound negative. Emmy is a wonderful girl, but I want everything to be out there so no one is expecting a broken weak girl. She is very strong.
We don't have any other dogs otherwise we would. But we might be willing to foster one of tje other 2 to make room for her. Pm me with tje info.for the other dogs.
As I mentioned earlier, if Emmy doesn't get a foster, she'll have to go in the kennel. There are currently 2 kennel runs open- and they are scheduled to save 2 GSD's from deathrow tomorrow and put them in the 2 open kennel spaces. If Emmy doesn't get a foster, she will be put in the kennel, therefore leaving only 1 kennel run open- that means on Thursday, only 1 GSD on deathrow will be saved, and the other will be put down. So if you can't foster Emmy but would still like to help, you can foster another dog! That'll open a kennel run so both dogs on Thursday can be rescued! There are so many dogs to choose from- many are VERY good with children!
It's amazing what Emmy went through. And she is used to being with her sister; her sister just got adopted. So this is her first time alone, and rejected, and scared... and she's still recovering. Ugh, my heart aches for her.
Thank you everyone for getting in touch with me about fostering Emmy or any dog! Please message me if you would like any more details or if you are interested!
Too bad I'm going out of town tomorrow. We have 1 foster from them right now (our other one found her forever home) but I would not ask my husband to take on more than just the one we have while I'm gone.
losers I hate people who don't care about animals. I hit somone in the back with a shuvel years back because I caught him throwing kittens into a water hole!!!! Ah ya, I know right

Yeah, I'd probably do the same. I hate people. I love animals.
The second one I took did we still have the first. She will probably be a long term foster which is a shame because she is the best behaved dog ever. She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix though so she doesn't look as "beautiful" nor is she as big.

What kind of home are you looking for for her? I grew up with red and blue heelers. I love them!! My parents got theirs from the pound and some of the best dogs ever. One (who was the runt of her litter and is built like a fat hyena) is now a therapy dog. She hangs out with sick children. She is the smartest, sweetest, calmest and most empathetic dog I've ever seen.
