Ok, so it's about bad parenting and rotten employees. But I'm ticked. Went to Mcd's tonight with hubby and 4yr daughter and 16m son. The one down at Oceanside Blvd and College with the large indoor play area. There was another family with looked like a 3 yr boy, a man sitting by himself, and 4 kids sitting at a table with no adult all in the play area. I saw that the kids by themselves were doing spit balls, so I just said (from my table) - Hey, no spit balls in here. OK? They went and played a bit, then I saw them doing it again. This time, I got up and walked over, got my daughter away from them and said to them - No spit balls. Where are your mom and dad? I planned to talk to the folks and ask them to keep the kids in line. I mean - spit balls. Its disgusting. Before the kids can answer, the man stands up and starts yelling at me. Said there was no sign against spit balls, and they are just kids and I should have talked to him. (He was 3 tables away from where the kids were sitting, and hadn't responded when I said something from my seat.) I Said I'd get the manager to tell him no spit balls. The manager came in and DIDN"T DO ANYTHING!! I sat back down to finish, and the dad started doing spit balls. I had to leave, and I told the manager that it is one thing if a kid sneezes, but spit is another thing entirely. If he didn't have the balls to say - no spit or you have to leave, I'm not going to be going back there. It was nasty. Rant over.

GROSS!

Oliver Clothesoff --- 14 years ago -

What did your husband do when he started yelling at you?

saywhat?! --- 14 years ago -

I'm just going to go on and say it, but you were at McDonalds. What do you expect?

kathymj --- 14 years ago -

Hubby started talking forcefully (not quite yelling) that spit is disgusting, that it is our problem cause our daughter was playing there, that he needed to control his kids, and getting involved while I got the manager. He sat back down with our son after the manager came in. He kept his temper in check. He will let me stand for myself, and step in if he thinks someone is going to get physical. He hung back at first cause he was with our son.

I kind of expect parents to act like me cause I am one and love my kids. I expect the manager to do his damn job, and protect the interests of his store. I know he doesn't care a ... spit... about me, but this could be an issue for his company.

Motherof2 --- 14 years ago -

Some kids act the way they do because the way their parents act.

Sorry this happened.

But like Saywhat said.. what can you expect your at Mcdonalds.lol.

Dorothy Mantooth --- 14 years ago -

It's McDonalds.

Dont expect much.

From anyone.

I would write corporate and let them know. It shouldnt matter where you are, but there are some things that should not be done. That is disgusting!!

Princess B --- 14 years ago -

Drive thru and play at your house. That's how we do McDonalds lol.

x2

kathymj --- 14 years ago -

I just sent this info to corporate. I'll let you know if they do anything. Part of going was letting my daughter run off energy before bed. I've (been lucky and) never had a problem there before. In fact, I've met some very nice mothers there and had some nice conversations with others doing the same thing. It's really the manager's lack of response that has me upset.

totally agree i dont let my kids play at those play place or in sand boxes.. theres just so much nasty crap in there.. two incidents in my hometown.. one a snake and snake eggs were found in one of those play areas.. the second one was a lil kid who was stabbed by a needle while playin in one he ended up in the hospital from an infection.. ever since then my kids are not allow in either..

I use to work at a fast food joint with these things and I couldn't tell you how many times parents would call to tell us their kids were playing in it earlier only to find out they had lice, strep throat, etc. Imagine how many parents didn't call.

We went to one and it smelled so badly. The employee said they would call someone to clean it. I asked how often they were supposed to have it cleaned and she replied, "There's no guidelines. We are just supposed to get it cleaned when it smells bad."

(Of course, my kids weren't allowed in it. They were disappointed because we left and I haven't let them play in them since.)

I thought these were urban legends haha I didn't know they were real.

stacey --- 14 years ago -

Those mc donalds play areas creep me out!! All those germs lurking around, I have never taken my kids there to play. it sucks that you had to deal with that though and maybe you will get somewhere with corporate

Me+3 --- 14 years ago -

That is revolting and unsanitary, I think I would have barfed. Some people are straight up gross. For the dad to do it too makes me wonder how these kids are going to end up.

BRAVO4 --- 14 years ago -
