Ok so another resident of our apartment complex had our car towed because we parked in their spot for an hour to unload our things into our new apartment...so we called the tow company $270 to get your car back...Ok i understand that but we called yesterday to actually go get the car and they "just released it about an hour ago" to our "insurance company" but when we called our insurance company they said they didnt have it....it is legally my husbands car and they refuse to tell him who exactly has our car...now i know that legally they are 'supposed' to call or notify you some how that your vehicle was towed and what they require to get it back within 72hours...it has been much over 72hrs...sounds a little fishy to me....what do yall think?
Your husband needs to go down there and see the papers as to who they released the vehicle to. If your husband owns the car outright and has docmentation to state it then yes there is something fishy going on and he needs to get to the bottom of it. Also a tow company can not take ownership of a vehicle until after a 30 hold
I would go there.. we had our car towed once and we had to go to the apartment complex and see who their contract was with for towing (someplace even have signs posted that well tell you who they use) and then go to that place I'd NEVER call them up cause they will give you the run around to make money. Even try call the police caue they should have a tow log. Cause another resident can't call themselves they have to call the apartments or the police to report it.
tell him to get in touch with his command and get them going on it NOW this all sounds really fishy to me, how did the towing company know who your insurance company is to release it to
You parked where you shouldn't have for whatever reason...we used to do that when we lived in apartments because parking was hard to find and we had a prime parking spot reserved for our apartment. Anytime anyone was in our spot we would try to shake the car a bit to set off an alarm or look around the nearby apartments to see if we can find the owner...when we came up w/ nothing we had to have the car towed....the towing company should tell you who has the car and you should pay for to get it back. I don't think they automatically just release it to your insurance company (how do they know who you use?)....
Oh and before I forget an Insurance Carrier would not get involved in picking up a towed vehicle UNLESS the car was involved in an accident and the owner, that being your husband, authorized it to be picked up and taken to where it is to be fixed. This I know for sure because I work in the insurance industry
Yeah I would call the police for that area, because if they are not giving you any info and it is registered to your hubby and had no lean on it then technically I think there is a crime involved there, at least maybe they can get better info out of them then you. Don't let them push you around you have right you just have to let them know that you know what they are
how did the towing company know who your insurance company is to release it to
they can get that from the police from the tags.. if the car was left longer then 72 hours. they don't have to contact you to tell you it's been towed, but it's your job to go it before it's been to long cause they can relise it and after sooo long they can put it up for auction even.
you need to go ASAP to that place, they pull alot of crap to get people pissy so they have a "case" if anything happens. You NEED to demand documantation of EVERYTHING.
Unfortunately, I can believe people do this because you were in the wrong. But now the towing company is in the wrong and you need to get your car back. Do you have a way around?
no...i cant go anywhere....luckily i dont need too...
I live in an apartment complex in Fallbrook i dont know who the tow company is they have it posted on the mailboxes but i dont have a phone bc i have to pay them 270 to get my car back so the cell phone has to wait...im just so urked
He hasnt signed a thing....thats our only car and i cant believe people would pull this crap....
Some people are crazy about haveing their "spot" and don't care about the price it costs others. We had the same thing happen. But we had to call friends to drive us there as SOOON as we knew it was gone. We got on the phone with the police right away when it wasn't there and went right to the company. For a day it was $180 and they considered a day to be like from 8am to noon and then we got an hour charge for there after. but we had to do the searching on our own.
i'm sorry that happened to you..someone parked in our space the other day right when my husband was getting home..I just left a note on the car..I didn't want to call the tow company. that just seems mean to do without giving them warning..

Okay but the manager would. I'm sure it is one of two Rancho Del Oro Towing (they are tow happy) or North Coast Towing. I could be wrong. Other then that you need to find out their open office hours cause if the vehicle is only in your husbands name they will only release it to the owner (so said). So your husband has to be the one to go and hopefully it will be soon as the cost will only increase by each day
The apartment manager told me "its not my problem...it was posted" yeah on a piece of computer paper that got wet and warped and the ink ran all over the place....oh REAL good sign!
However you do need to figure it out right away cause the charges will just start to add up if it is in there a long time, make sure that every time you talk to someone or your hubby does he gets a name and documents the time and date. These are the things that will help you in the long run, but you really need t take care of it soon..
i mean what do i have to do put a sign in my window "BEFORE YOU CALL TOW COMPANY COME TO APT # AND ASK ME TO MOVE MY VEHICLE"?
What was wrong with your spot? Or guest/free for all parking?
I dont have a "spot" they are all "taken" and we dont have guest/free parking i guess bc we asked
Everyone in your complex has assigned parking except you? Tha doesn't sound right either some folks have more cars then usual or you should have your rent reduced based on lack of parking
