Good evening Ladies. I assume there are Men out there too. This is kind of personal in nature but I beleive it affects the fabric of our military homelife at some level. I'm a Marine wife living here on the Base and it has become quite apparent to me that there is an increasing "lifestyle" trend here on Pendleton. I'm talking about "Fling & Swing" A few years ago when we first moved onto this Base, I only knew of TWO couples in our housing area that were swingers. And they had to go out of town or to the OC for their parties. Now I know of MORE than TEN couples that not only live on the Base but now also host parties here, too. Was I just completely out of the loop years ago??? And that is not even including the handfuls of Miramar Marines and MCRD DIs (mostly all married or going thru a divorce - surprise, surprise!) that head over here for a party now and again. I've heard it said time and time again that "Messing around is a part of military marriage." So I guess Swing/Swap gets a thumbs-up??? But it seems to either be a growing trend or just more acceptable to do these days??? Then you got your "flings" and affairs. Jeez that's another beautiful disaster right there. It's everywhere. And it's not just the men. I see more and more wives doing the same thing and not just when their men are away either. Actually I've seen a growing amount of men getting into steady, emotional affairs lately and increasingly more wives having their "side dish" purely for physical/sexual use. Before they'd wait until he was deployed. Now anytime is fun-time! A couple of years ago I would just laugh about it. I mean we're adults so what you do behind closed doors is your business, right? It seems to me like it's not going to stop or slow down any time soon. Please don't think I'm pointing fingers or wanting to sound like a self-righteous snob. Believe me ladies when I say I've made some real REAL dumb-a** decisions before!!! It's just an observation. Does anyone see or know what I'm talking about? Or is this a taboo topic that, as one slick Marine said to me: "What's the first rule of Fight Club?"

Laura --- 9 years ago -

Eh,I guess knowing about it is better then just straight cheating, but don't marriage vows mean anything?I know people will "price" the opposite sex,as I like to put it,but you're not suppose to "buy" an extra marital relationship. Can't marines get in trouble for it?It's one thing to be dating more then one person, but when you're married...I guess one to many people saw that swingers episode of CSI ha ha ha!

TruthBeKnown --- 9 years ago -

I don't know of any in my neighborhood who are swingers myself. But I guess it never comes up at the neighborhood BBQ or 2 year old kid's b-day party. In all reality, I think I would just rather not know. lol I know there are lots of couple's who have "understandings", especially during deployments and such. I don't think it's right, but who am I to judge? Let's just say my husband would definitely not be able to have anymore kids if I found out about anything extra marital. :D

Mrs to the Mass --- 9 years ago -

Ya - I don't know anyone like that either - and EWWW What's mine is mine... and what's his is ME!!!

Monster* Mouse --- 9 years ago -

I agree with truthbeknown and mrs to the mass.I take my vows very seriously and like i said in a post before my hubbys' ball would be the thing hangin over the review mirror like others have nice fuzzy dice.

Kristin --- 9 years ago -

It's nothing new.

ALEM --- 9 years ago -

Just like mouse i take my vows seriously. But thats nasty that couples willingly do that! guh

Rachel --- 9 years ago -

i agree with Kristi Mouse and Truth LOL i'm not more people have said something i agree with... that just sounds like a breeding ground for trouble

Sonnet_57 --- 9 years ago -

Oh Ladies, ladies I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally I find it intriguing from a psychological point of view and amusing because it appears to be rampant in my particular housing area! Everytime we go to a neighbor's get-together and it starts veering towards "that kind" of party -- my husband grabs my hand and says "Thanks for having us over!!" and he pulls me out the door. Meanwhile I'm craning my neck to take a peek!! Haha!! I whisper "Let's grab a bowl of popcorn and JUST WATCH!" but he squares his jaw and reminds me: "You are a Marine Wife not a military whore." Thank God for husbands!! =) Now to be fair, every couple has their own dynamics in play and if that lifestyle works for them, so be it. My co-workers called it "Base In-Breeding" which drew a few laughs but it was embarrassing at the same time.

Why even get married if that 1 person doesn't satisfy your every need? Why not just stay single and fuck whoever you want. Swingers are those who aren't serious about commitment. If you want to whore around ... by all means, whore away. Don't get married and have your vows mean nothing. Vows are sacred ... gosh c'mon people

ashley nichole --- 9 years ago -

yeah my husband would DEF have no jewls i married him b/c i love him and want him to be mine not to share. yes what goes on behind closed doors is not my business but its just not for me i know a couple who was into it and now they are going through a divorce b/c the woman fell in love with a man they had a "fling" with. I LIKE MY MARRIAGE THANKS lol and they thought it would be harmless, something they could do together and looked what became of it.

YO' MAMA! --- 9 years ago -

I knew of ladies (not too sure of men) doing this kind of thing in Lejeune when we lived there two years ago. I believe they used to put a green (or red?) light bulb out on the porch light and that meant, "Hey, hubby's (or wife's) deployed, let's f***." I've only heard of a couple of women knowing of this and I've been asked a couple of times if I've ever done this... Mind, I do agree with Sonnet, it IS intriguing. How can couples who IN LOVE with each other do such a thing and be okay with watching/involving themselves in it? *lol* But everyone has their point of view, right? ;)

Mochelly --- 9 years ago -

Oh it's so much fun. We try and host one ever other week. The opposite week of paydays to be exact. More show up when they're bank accounts are empty. When my husband is deployed he lets me pick a stand in. Oh it's such a blast. I mean afterall this is so prominent in the military world, who isn't doing it!?

Monster* Mouse --- 9 years ago -

lol yeah u cant be serious lol

Sonnet_57 --- 9 years ago -

As far as the Swinging is concerned, I camn honestly tell you Ladies I've seen some good lookin' guys walk into those parties. So good lookin' that one word comes to mind: "Damn!" =) BUT... Another word comes to mind right after: "Valtrex." For me, no amount of intrigue or curiosity is worth slathering ointment on some mysterious rash or taking pills for the rest of my life. Besides I end up hearing about it eventually. What I don't like hearing is a wife crying or a husband going crazy because their spouse did things without them there. Go figure.

Bama --- 9 years ago -

This is sooo freakin sick I hope they all get some type of std that even ajax wouldn't get rid of it!!

Mochelly --- 9 years ago -

Sonnet, Why does it seem like you are soliciting more than sharing an opinion. An odd opinion at that. Should I message you for an address?

Bama --- 9 years ago -

Why get married if your going to sleep with or have an affair with somebody else?

kikomon --- 9 years ago -

MY HUSBAND WOULD PROBABLY GO FOR IT, I THINK MORE MEN THEN WOMAN WOULD BUT IM TO JEALOUS AND I WOULD KILL A BITCH!

Bama --- 9 years ago -

I think this is more like a freaking invite then giving an opinion

kikomon --- 9 years ago -

OH BY THE WAY NOT CRAZY, PATHETIC JEALOUS SO DONT EVEN START!LOL

YO' MAMA! --- 9 years ago -

Bama, that is true. Exactly why I wouldn't do it. BUT it is a wonder how ANY couple can do that, married or not?

Mochelly --- 9 years ago -

Wow, someone finally agrees with me. Oh dear!

TheOne --- 9 years ago -

Sonnet, Why does it seem like you are soliciting more than sharing an opinion. An odd opinion at that. Should I message you for an address? I think I may like you.

Monster* Mouse --- 9 years ago -

mine wouldnt he takes his vows as serious as I do. mochelly I see ur point ..

insertfunnynamehere --- 9 years ago -

MY HUSBAND WOULD PROBABLY GO FOR IT, I THINK MORE MEN THEN WOMAN WOULD BUT IM TO JEALOUS AND I WOULD KILL A BITCH! That would be me too. But I think I'm just crazy jealous LOL

Mochelly --- 9 years ago -

Jealous is not a way I'd like to spend the rest of my marriage. That has to get super tiring after so long. :::shudder::: just my opinion though.

insertfunnynamehere --- 9 years ago -

I guess I should have added, I don't get jealous when other women talk to my husband or anything like that I'm not that crazy, but the whole idea of the swinger thing would make me crazy jealous. And I agree it's no way to spend the rest of your marriage.

Sonnet_57 --- 9 years ago -

Haha... thank you those offers but I must politely decline. =) Like I said for some folks this type of lifestyle works...if it does, so be it. You may be into it or vehemently against it (Swinging) but it IS a fact of life on this Base. I just found it interesting that the idea seems to be growing in numbers or acceptance. I appreciate everyone's opinions, insights and perspectives. This is a subject that can be uneasy for many people so THANK YOU ALL for being civil in your responses.
