If it wasn't "safe" it wouldn't be running through our pipes. The only thing wrong with the tap water On base is that it's hard water. However, that won't harm you in any way
It doesn't matter if you "boil" the water. The deposits (minerals) that are too heavy stay in the bottom of the pot and you end up consuming them. I only use bottle water for cooking/drinking/rinsing. Although with that said, I think unless you are giving the tap water to a baby, it is probably ok to use. I think another thread that was similiar to this one a few months back, had a comment that it wasn't good for babies. I am not a Dr. so I can't say for sure.

Exactly why I only drink and cook with bottled water.
I drink it...maybe it does not bother me because I am used to well water. So far, I have not gotten sick or anything - they have run tests...I have seen the results myself. Had my daughter tested after I freaked out last time because of the lead rumor...and she is fine.
Drank a glass about an hour ago. If I don't return you should probably stay away from it LOL Relax people...it's water and it's safe. Read the department of health findings regarding Camp Pendletons water which is readily avail online and see for yourself

It suggests small children, women who are pregnant or nursing should not drink it. Being that that goes for 4 of the people in this house I dont cook with it.

(In a nice tone since often times it is not obvious when communicating via forum)
Drinking and cooking with are two different matters. If it says small children and pregnant and nursing mothers should not drink it I wouldn't feel as if cooking with it would be harmful because it would state that if that were the case. Cooking with brings it's to such a high temp that anything not recommended for persons in that category would be boiled out. However, I respect the decision that any mother makes for her family regarding their health. So if one day you were ever to wind up at my house for dinner I'll order a pizza lol
It suggests that they should not ingest it due to the extra minerals, those CANNOT be boiled out. Small children cannot process the extra minerals the way adults can. I have mineral issues in the first place so even when im not pregnant or nursing I dont touch it.

I could understand why you wouldn't mess with it then. I didn't realize the minerals were so heavy And pizza sounds good to me LOL
I was just going to bring that up KayCee, I had a friend who lived in Serra Mesa and they did blood work on people who lived there and drank the water. Brought them bottled water. We have water delivered to our house. And as far as its well water, it may be well water but my mom has well water at her house here in CA and its actually really good. I dont cook with it, I didnt give it to my dog, or my family. To have water delivered is not expensive. Better to be safe than sorry. Plus it stinks, no way its going anywhere near my mouth
I use the tap water for cooking and making tea. So far, I've had no problems. Occasionally, the water will be accompanied by a pungent smell so I opt for the water we have delivered. My husband and I were raised in the backwoods of Texas, where our water was literally well water or from the creek so I guess we are just used to it.

I remember when I use to live there on certain days the water would change color (like it got murky or rusty tint colored). We were told not to drink it or do laundry those days.
