Hubby is an E5 and got orders to CP from RS Springfield, MA. This will be my first move as I grew up here in western Mass... We have a son who will be turning two and September, and hoping to accidentally get pregnant soon (lol, I know). I need advice on: off base housing (I am dead set on having a three bedroom and worry that on base will stick us with a two), how the whole TMO process works, and how to make time go by faster! :) Thanks in advance!

Also, Hi!!!!

For TMO you schedule the move, they come pack you up, put your stuff on a truck and drive it out here. They will give you a round about date it should arrive but it's usually here a little earlier. That part is pretty simple except it's all done online now and navigating the website can be "fun."

As far as off base housing... I dont really know what info you're looking for but there are a ton of websites to use to look at houses. Electricity seems fairly cheap here but water is expensive. Temecula seems to be a favorite area but for me that's way too far to drive. Oceanside/Vista areas are to the south of the base but very close depending on where your husband will be working on base.

As far as living on base and getting a three bedroom, your only option is Stuart mesa. You do lose your concession because your family only rates a 2 bedroom. Unless you choose a 2 bedroom where you get 400 back monthly. If you do become pregnant, after you are 12 weeks with proof of pregnancy from the doctors you can request to get the concession of 350 for the 3bedroom. They are extremely spacious and you can choose from the unremodeled or remodeled. They both have their pros and cons.

As for living off base in the oceanside are, I've found that something nice enough is too expensive especially for a 3 bedroom. I believe you get more from your bah on base. Unless you have a 2 income household.

Sometimes other housings such as Pacific view will offer incentives such as 1000-3000 $$ to move in. YOu just have to keep an eye out for it on the hot sheet. here's a link to it. YOu can also find it on the lincoln military website.

Also there are pictures of most of the housings on FB

Lastly, another housing company on base is Hunt. I'm not familiar with their housing but you can probably look them up online.

Good Luck with your move!!!!

and i forgot to mention, once you do become pregnant, MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT ASAP because it takes forever to get into OB and sometimes they will send you off base if they are too filled.

You can also just switch to standard and maternity care is covered 100% after a $150 deductible and the hospital stay is like $17.50 or something a night total. SOOO worth it.

Also it's not Hunt it's Deluz. Hunt was the partners for building homes for both Deluz and Lincoln.
