I have an appointment with an off base ultrasound center for Saturday. I will be 6 weeks and 4 days. I would love to actually see the baby, but I just really want to hear the heartbeat. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard the heartbeat that early? After the MC last year I am just overly cautious. Any insight would be appreciated ladies. TY

Can I give you some honest advice without offending you? Girl you need to relax, slow down and calm down. You are going to cause yourself to have a nervous breakdown with all this worrying your doing. Here is something I say to people all the time. You cannot change the outcome but you can change your mindset. Trust me I have been in your shoes, I know how it can be trying. Just relax momma. It'll work out.

I just don't want to get my hopes up until I have a little more confirmation that everything is ok. The dr didn't order any more blood tests after my very first one so I have no idea if my levels are increasing like they should be. I've got nothing other than boobs that are sore and feel like they weigh approximately 97 pounds. EACH. Also, since my husband is leaving in less than two weeks he's going to miss the first u/s at the ob office so that is another big reason why we are choosing to go off base. I just want him to feel included too.

I know SW. You are working yourself up though and that is not good. Keep a positive head about it. Baby is in there, baby is doing fine. Now momma needs to jump on board.

Momma needs to go get ready for the dr lol...bbl

To answer your question the last two pregnancies I saw the fetal pole and saw the heartbeat at that time.

I know its possible to see it that early, but not be able to hear it. Like Whatevergirl said just calm down and don't stress it, because that's not good for you or baby. I've never heard my twins heartbeats only seen them so I know that my boys are fine inside me.

Earliset I heard my peanut's heartbeat was 13 weeks, 3 days.

At my first dr appt, I had the transvaginal u/s; which is what they usually start off with and I was able to hear the heartbeat and see the fetus. I was 9weeks at that time. No symptoms or a lot of symptoms aren't accurate indications of how good or bad things are going for you. Enjoy this time and don't worry too much. I've been there, done that but I had people with the same mentality as WEG to get my mind back on positive things and just enjoy.

For my second one I heard her heartbeat at 7weeks. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone.

i think you might be able to hear it, i was about 7-8 weeks when i heard my babys heartbeat :)

lousmom --- 13 years ago -

I heard my first's heartbeat at 8weeks, but this one we didn't get to hear it till I was 16 weeks. I have had 8-10 ultrasounds (I've totally lost track) because even at 36 weeks they sometimes can't find it. I had to do a NST for the baby two weeks ago and we kept losing his heartbeat. It took FOREVER to get through that thing!

I think I heard mine at my 10-12 week appt via doppler ... but I saw it via ultrasound at 5-6 weeks

Thanks for all of the feedback ladies. I am trying very hard to just relax and enjoy this time in my life...BUT it is much easier said than done. With my husband leaving again so soon it definitely makes things stressful. I will let everyone know how it goes Saturday.

***UPDATE***

I had my u/s today and everything looks great. We heard and saw the heartbeat, and I'm measuring at 6 weeks 5 days. Exactly where I thought I was.

Also, on a random side note, I think it's a boy. Don't know why I feel that way...I just do.

I know this post is really old .. but where, at 6 weeks did you go to get an ultrasound?

My first ultrasound was at 5 weeks and 5 days, at the NH, but I had an awesome dr. that I had been working with for over a year.

Brittany --- 12 years ago -

okay, well that doesn't help me. lol

AZbound --- 12 years ago -

Pretty sure the only place you can get an US that early is at a Dr office....I don't really understand your question.

Allison --- 12 years ago -

I got one early(7 weeks) cuz I told my dr I was having sharp pains on my side that wasn't going away. She sent me to get an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay.
