I've never called anybody this in my life. I'm more creative, and also care to examine the issue with more depth than a single word can cover.

I see this word get thrown around like a hot potato (and where I come from, Hot Potato ended with the hungriest person) here and elsewhere.

sofaa --- 13 years ago -

It means you don't know what you're talking about/are uneducated on the subject. People use it in a negative way a lot but it doesn't have to be.

I am losing it. I can't even get through reading 2 comments before I lose my concentration.

Ignorance to me are people who are closed minded, and will only look at something one way and that's it. Also those who are uneducated on a subject that they have a "strong" opinion about.

foxed --- 13 years ago -

people who talk out of their as s and have opinions not based in fact.

lol.. “Humankind cannot bear very much reality.” ~T.S. Eliot

We suck.

That's not the definition though. The definition is just lack of knowledge on a subject or being uninformed... strong opinions or being close minded is another thing. I do notice they often all get lumped together though! I usually figure those people don't really know what ignorant means...which is ironic lol

Texas10 --- 13 years ago -

i love that word. it is quite fitting as well. ignorance to me are people who talk out of their as s and have opinions not based in fact

Like me with my 13 Colonies Misreading today. hahaha.

But Really I think Its Exactly What you said.

team brian --- 13 years ago -

Lol that is MY definition. I will personally call someone ignorant if they act that way because to me, its ignorant ;)

LullabiesButterflies --- 13 years ago -

Yes, when I say ignorant, I mean it as being uninformed. I usually only say it to people I'm somewhat frustrated with though because it does have a negative connotation for most people and I don't want to offend someone who I really like. Lol

foxed --- 13 years ago -

it does have a negative connotation

I think people tend to just use it as another in the endless lineup of insults available. It always ends up sounding like.. wait, what did sofaa say? "those people don't really know what ignorant means...which is ironic".

This.

Scrappy --- 13 years ago -

It means uneducated. Like - person is ignorant to the fact that (insert whatever)

cindy --- 13 years ago -

I think I'm pretty educated, but I will admit I was a little ignorant to what the CF (Not going to say it but its currently on page 12 or ll of a thread)stood for some people. Maybe, I still stay away from people who have that anywhere near their home or personal belongings. (unless its for educational purposes ie museum or its old and it was passed down to them, but they don't believe in it).

Scrappy --- 13 years ago -

Not educated as in schooling...uneducated in what ever the topic is that you don't know anything about.

MissMaggy --- 13 years ago -

My dad always used to say "ignorance is bliss". As in those who don't know what is really going on around them are happy.

These days I see it as not knowing what's going on, or not knowing the facts and not caring to know. It does seem to carry quite a bit of negative weight the way it is used these days.

whatevergirl2 --- 13 years ago -

I define it as half the people on PU. Lol.

Poorly educated on a topic. Most people do emotion based answers and ignore the facts. Sure it's how you feel but it doesn't make it true or a fact.

PPCTMistyLa Diabla --- 13 years ago -

Ignorant means poorly educated and its a poor excuse for stupidity.
