Hi Ladies,

Im moving into Stuart Mesa (Hawkins Street) at the end of next month. Being new to this area, it would be of great help if anyone can give me any information.

I looked on the website and they have no floorplans for the house we qualify for (2 bed, 1.5 bath).

I don't know if its one or two car, or if they are remotely nice. I have heard both good and bad.

You will have a one car garage, MOST are two stories but some are only one. I live in Stuart Mesa and love it (I swear i've said this a million times) but it's still true! lol

do you live near Hawkins Street? I know Stuart Mesa is one of the bigger housing areas and the houses range from crappy to really nice. You recommend it huh?

I live in Stuart Mesa as well and love it. We are in a house that isn't updated at all but its seriously not bad. I believe all the two bedrooms are updated already so thats a plus. The updated houses are really nice. Hope you like it. 

thanks for the info, seems like so far everyone likes it. I know that some of the housing looks kinda crummy on the outside, maybe its whats inside that counts! LOL

South Mesa II isn't good at all! It's upstairs/downstairs housing, so you live above or below someone. And parking there is even worse than Stuart Mesa.

I have mixed feelings about Stuart Mesa. The inside of the houses are nice, but I feel like the community itself is ghetto. There's a reason they're practically bribing people to live in Stuart Mesa.... 

No I live by the PX in a 3 bdr. I think hawkins is by the back end...? Not sure. Lol all the streets and houses look the same tho.

The insides are nicer than Santa Margarita, but it feels just like an apartment. For as much as BAH is nowadays, you can get the same thing, probably off base, for cheaper.

The set up is a little odd. Plus I've seen some that are 4 garages together, all with shared driveways. And you have two awkwardly put sliding glass doors.

If you live on the bottom you get a pretty large backyard, if you live up top you have a balcony, plus people up there have dogs and don't pick up after them, so when you get that nice ocean breeze it smells like poop! 

I always think it's weird when people say Stuart mesa seems ghetto. I've lived here for almost 5 years and I don't think it's ghetto at all. I used to live in one of the older unrenovated ones with the one car garage and I really liked it. We had a great front yard and I loved the layout. Now we live in an unrenovated with a 2 car garage and I LOVE it. I think all the houses in the neighborhood look really nice from the outside as well as the inside. They were built in the 90's so they really aren't that old. I love all the big trees in this neighborhood too. 

I AM LOOKING INTO MOVING INTO STAURT MESA AFTER MY HUSBAND GETS BACK.Is there a long waiting list for a 2bedroom? We have no kids but we have 2 dogs. 

You can usually get into a house in Stuart Mesa at any time. They always seem to have openings and many times have incentives to move into them and offer money off rent. Check out Lincoln's "Hot Sheet" or call the housing office 

Are you allowed to work in the garages at Stuart Mesa?
