Anyone know what time of the year this usually is? I was told Aug which is not cool cause that's when the baby is due, lol. Thanks!

Green Chick --- 14 years ago -

They constantly have schools going from what I remember. It isn't just once a year. Either way, it isn't far :)

Starr --- 14 years ago -

Oh yay! Ok, That's the only thing I'm worried about right now. I just don't want to do this baby thing by myself lol. Even if he is in SD.

SinCityGRL --- 14 years ago -

My hubby went in like march!

Starr --- 14 years ago -

Ok, thanks! He just called this morning and said he was hit. We just filled the paperwork out together and now he's back at work. I guess we just wait and see now huh? This is what I get for wishing for orders, lol!

My husband graduates from recruiting school this next Thursday. It is LOOOOONG hours of studying and the first week is ROUGH. Actually the whole schooling is rough. Don't be surprised if you're up till 2-3am in the morning helping him study his note cards. They have to write over like 500. Its rediculous. Very grueling. But my hubby is graduating in the top 10% of this class of 200! :) If he really sets himself too it, he'll do great. But help him as much as you can and push him also!

LoveMyBoys! --- 14 years ago -

And yes Green Chick is right, they have schools going constantly. They're about 6-7 weeks long.

LadyLiberty --- 14 years ago -

Maybe you can get a location in or close to your home town. That would be perfect with a new baby, you would have your whole family to help out.

None of our family lives in the same place. I am hoping for around Lejeune. lol That's where my mom is at least.

Preggo My Eggo, have your husband put in for a by name request. This is what my husband did becuase we wanted to be in the Kansas City area and we got it. He had to submit a by name request and then when we went home on leave he met with the SgtMjr of the RS.

Cat Drama --- 14 years ago -

Ok! I will tell him! About how long is the process from being flagged to interview to school? With the baby due in less than 2 months I'd like to get things figured out. Lol.

SinCityGRL --- 14 years ago -

Unfortunately, By Name Requests don't always work out. We had one for Los Angeles...and ended up in Columbus, GA! LOL!

LoveMyBoys! --- 14 years ago -

My husband was flagged around Christmas if I remember right, and he reported to MCRD end of April. I think he can pick when becuase If I remember right my husband had the option to go in March.

Maddies Mom --- 14 years ago -

My husband got flagged this week as well. Had to pick up his package yesterday.

PPCTMistyLa Diabla --- 14 years ago -

It runs constantly. Not like a school year. By name requests hardly ever work. If you request East coast be prepared to be Southwest. Dont make plans on anything.

You are right!! It's never 100% guaranteed, especially with recruiting. I kind of had an advantage because my twin sisters husband is recruiting in Kansas City, and plus we were able to go meet with the SgtMjr.

SinCityGRL --- 14 years ago -

My hubs worked with the SgtMaj at a different unit...we'd have LOVED to stay out here....Georgia was an "experience" to say the least!! HA HA HA!!!

*All Smiles* --- 14 years ago -

When the HRST screening team comes and does their interview, all Marines that qualify pick a class date. Whether or not they actually end up getting orders to go to school. So in that case your husband should know when he's going to school. Especially if he has the orders.

Cat Drama --- 14 years ago -

Ok thanks! I went back and read some of the older threads and I saw where you could end up somewhere random! At least I love to move! Lol I also saw that the location you get could change up til the last day. We won't be house hunting until we get there then!

Of course this is all *if* he gets selected. He only has 1 tattoo that might disqual him. I told our family it wasn't the best idea to buy plane tickets for Christmas in Feb! Lol

Starr --- 14 years ago -

Lmao totally blew my cover. Oh well! Lol

Karen25 --- 14 years ago -

Yes they can change which.office and rs he could work out of they told my husband he was going to be in joplin then overland park and oalthe finally they put him in gladstone..it was a
HUGE pain.

puppylove --- 14 years ago -

If his orders say august then that is probably when he will be going but they have the school year round.

Maddies Mom --- 14 years ago -

This may be a stupid question, but is there any way to delay schooling? Hubby is supposed to deploy Jan/Feb timeframe and we need the $ to pay off a lot of our debt (I got medically discharged).

Or has anyone been dq'ed for financial reasons?

puppylove --- 14 years ago -

I know you can talk to the command he is with and see if they can change it

Karen25 --- 14 years ago -

Their are ways around it but I think its difficult

topgun484 --- 14 years ago -

You can get disqualified for financial reasons before.you go to school you have.to fill out a financial worksheet and it.gets signed off by.your co before you go to school stating qualified or disqualified
