Ideas. I posted this on another thread but thought it would be great to see what others did when their loved ones came home.

My friend did the coolest thing ever when her husband came home from deployment. She decorated different rooms in her house for each holiday he missed so that they could all do something pertaining to that holiday together soon after he got home.

Of course they celebrated them when he was gone but they got to do it again together. Like they each had a present to open in the Xmas room. And they colored eggs and hunted them in one room. not sure of all the holidays she did but those two I remember.

We have never done anything crazy, Ive set up a nice room and had dinner, beer, and a movie ready. Remember its the little things. Im sure he will just be happy to be home and relax with you.

We didnt do anything special (because he hasnt missed anything that can be re-done), but I did throw him a homecoming party with a Hawaii theme. Thats where we were supposed to go on vacay, but he used his money for other stuff.

My husband isn't deployed. I think what she did was awesome. The kids loved it and so did her husband.

What a creative idea :) My hubby however would not want to do it lol..he just wants to come home and have a beer sit and do nothing..which is fine with me :) Even homecomings for him are overwhelming..he barely gives me a hug..with all the people there and excitment, its to much for him. So once we are home he's totally different, more relaxed :)

We did the normal stuff.

One time, I made this HUGE sign( I know everyone does) BUT my hubby's job is very involved with the whole base so lots of people knew him there.. Anyway part of it read "It's about time..." and for months people would walk up to him and say, "Hey, your family says it's about time".
It was at New River so there was only one gate going in and it was right at the entrance.

Anyway, it was neat that a lot of people remembered it.

I *want* to do a big Thanksgiving dinner for my husband and his friends before they leave, because they supposedly leave a few weeks before Thanksgiving.

But when he comes home I'll leave it up to him what he wants to do, if anything.

We had a huge thanksgiving dinner before he left since he was leaving in october, and we also made his favorite dinner the night before he left for his last meal...he is coming back in the next month and i dont have anything crazy planned. we both just want to have a nice meal, watch a movie, drink some beer and relax and enjoy each other again
