Anyone have an amazing red velvet recipe? I've looked a few up, just looking for better variety. Some is really dry, some is too sweet, yada yada. Thanks :)

Lol, those are usually pretty good, but they don't tell you the recipe! How about homemade recipes? ;)

The red velvet cake recipe I have is alright, but nothing special... the Red Velvet Cookie Recipe I have, however, is AWESOME. It's on foodnetwork.com by Paula Deen

the paula deen version hates me - ive never had any luck with that and i always end up making cake balls because the cake always collapses but the cakeman Raven recipe works for me

Whichever red velvet recipe you go with, make sure it has raspberry sauce! That is the BEST red velvet cake I have ever had.

i tried the paula deen one once and didn't like it, it was too crumbly.

Was it like dry JJ?

jessicajane --- 14 years ago -

Yeah, it could've just been me though. I tried it cause it had good ratings, and I ended up not liking it...seemed too dry for a red velvet cake. My husband liked it, of course, but he doesn't know the difference, haha.
