The hubs is doing his b-billet starting March. Wondering if you ladies that have been through this could gimme a heads up on what to expect. Im sure many will have horror stories but Im hoping for some good ones too. Anything has gotta be better than 2 deployments in 2 years and missing the birth and first 5 months of our babys life.

He will never be home. Just from what I heard!

If you don't get a response, try searching Recruiting in the search tab. I wish I could help more :)

You will get stories out the woodwork...but it will all boil down to 2 things: where he works out of and who is his command? Those 2 things dictate just about all aspects of RD......my husband did it, we lived in Central Maine and I have definite opinions on it ;) But it is what you make it!

yea im pretty scared to find out where were going, i love cali, and were from ohio and definitely need to be at least a 2 hour plane ride from all family members haha. im anxious to find out where were going..

my husband really didn't want to do recruiting and because we wanted to stay here in cali (our hometown is 2 hours away) he got MCT instructor in SOI here in pendelton. and its long hours but they get breaks between cycles. its east or west coast choice too. its kinda hard to get in so we've found out..

my hubby opted for it. this deployment has been the suckiest, he missed alot and doesnt wanna miss anymore than he has to. im sure itll be hard but like i said anythings gotta be better than deployments lol

well recruiting duty is different for everyone, I had a hard time adjusting at first because I had a newborn baby and my husband was working 6 days a week from 6am- 11pm but that's because my husband had to drive for hours each day due to the area he was in. After the first year things got better and then we moved on recruiting duty to another rss and my husbands hours were much better! he was usualy home by 6-7 pm.

I hated recruiting duty it was hell for me : (

My friend is a recruiter in Alabama, and I swear he works 6-7days a week until like 10pm each day! He is single so it doesn't really matter to him. But he does have to "schedule" in lunch/dinner with friends. He has been there for almost 2 years and says he doesn't mind it, but doesn't like it either! LOL

Also, you cannot take leave whenever you want. They schedule you every 14 months. Atleast its like that where he is. But on a good note he does get a weekend off every now and again.

We just came off recruiting duty. You can give me a call and I will tell you anything you want to know. Too much to type. My number is under the Discovery Toys event for today.
