That's a good idea too. Even Toys R Us does layaway now.

We still have 5 paychecks until Christmas. Set aside $20/paycheck, and you'll have a little something by the time Christmas rolls around. Kids shouldn't need a million expensive toys to make the holiday mean something.

What does me being a mod have to do w/ anything? Do you PM every MOD everytime they say something that disagrees with what you have to say? I have every right to have an opinion on a public forum as does everyone else.

IF I was an unfair person, I would have deleted your comment entirely.

Lastly, why not follow your own advice? It obviously bothers you to read posts about giveaways - don't bother reading them. You're free to do so, but why put yourself through all that stress, if it bothers you so much what others do.

I just think both of you should drop it. If people are really asking for sincere advice then we should help them. Dont you agree? We should all help each other more and hurt each other less. my husband signed us up for like a thanksgiving dinner thing.. they give you a basket of thanksgiving stuff and then a turkey (that you have to cook on your own though).. I think your hubby can find out through his unit..

They just featured this on the 6am news this morning. They had a whole segment on Budgeting for Christmas. I guess that stores are already discounting their merchandise and they expect for the discounts to increase as Thanksgiving nears.

You have a "right" to your "opinion", however as taking on the position of MOD you're held to certain "standards" i.e. "setting a good example of fairness, kindness, and goodness for the rest of the community." Which obviously doesn't appear to the be the case as you can't hold yourself back.

You can continue your personal e-tirade all you want, I could case less about you as an e-person or real person, but in this case you're the one who is the MOD, "supposedly", the "better" person". You are just leading by example of how a MOD should not act ^^. 

There are a lot of sales too. I went into Kmart yesterday and a lot of clothes are $1.99 and had quite a bit on sale.

She wasn't asking for advice. She was asking about free giveaways. Since it's only October, some of us had suggestions (saving, budgeting, layaway). It's never truly helping someone if you don't give them the tools to avoid the situation in the future.
Otherwise, they have a good chance of ending up in the exact same position (or worse) a year from now, and with the way this economy is, there may be no free giveaways. Then what will they do?

So it was alright for the MOD who posted her comments about how she feels about people going to giveaways, which you obvioulsly agree with - but it's not alright for me to comment because it is not what you want to hear? Therefore my being a mod comes into question because my opinions vary from yours? I see - so you're only OK w/ mods that agree w/ you. Noted.
