"..she ain't got no shots because I don't have the time..." This sold me on her. She needs out of this home and into a REAL home that will care enough to get her shots. I would take her, but we have 2 dogs already. But maybe someone else can give her a good, FOREVER home :)
I'm going to email her and tell her that if no one wants her, I'll take her. But NOT for $150. I'll take her in, get her shots, get her spayed and then find her a forever home.
I love my pit, she's a total sweetie, and proof positive that TRAINING AND TREATMENT MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. If the timing were right to get another dog, and we lived off base, I'd be all over this puppy, but we live on base and it's not the right time for a puppy. I hope someone gives that little girl a chance.
It's Pit, only one T. And come meet mine, she'll change your mind =) She's done that for several people already, lol. I really hope that baby girl goes to a good home, and doesn't end up in a fighting ring or puppy mill.
my bad maybe ill have to ive been almost bitten and lunged at before. Im afraid of them. they are cute puppies tho.
Don't let bad experiences with one dog change your outlook on the entire breed. It's like saying, "A black guy robbed me so I hate all black people". Meet more pitty's and it'll change your mind on them :)
If you live in the Wire Mountain/South Mesa/Santa Margarita area, I can actually bring her to you, on one of our regular walks, and introduce you to her. She's a great dog, and proof that it's not the breed that's bad, it's a small percentage of owners.
Just as parents are responsible and accountable for their children's behavior, so is a pet owner and their pet.
And that's the reason why, even though I trust her with my life, and the lives of the children I plan to bring into my family, I watch her all the time when she's playing. She's my dog, and I'm accountable if she hurts, either on purpose or by accident, another dog or another person. I'm 100% confident in saying she is not an aggressive dog, but she is a dog, dogs are unpredictable, and personalities can clash.
I flagged it. What an idiot. It's also on the prohibited list uless she drops her price.
•Puppy sales are forbidden. We recognize that pets need homes, and thus we allow individual adoption postings for under $100 for non-puppies. Anything else that may have the appearance otherwise will likely be flagged and removed. Additionally, stud services are prohibited. All animal sales are forbidden on military bases/posts (it's illegal). The breeding and raising of pets on Government property for the express purpose of profit is prohibited. All pet listings must have prices.
Just a question because I don't know much about dogs and their shots and such....but do dogs absolutely have to have their shots? I mean, of course they can live without them as this dog is proof, but the reason I ask is because people all the time choose to not vaccinate their kids and you don't hear groups of people always griping and throwing a fit because of them. It's almost normal now to delay or not vaccinate at all on children. So why is it such a big deal when a dog doesn't have shots??
Again, I'm just asking because I don't know much about dogs and shots and such...and the thought above just popped up into my head....LOL.

Southern California is having a widespread Parvo epidemic. If puppies do not get their Parvo shots, WHICH BY CALIFORNIA LAW THEY MUST GET EVERY MONTH UNTIL THEY ARE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF WEEKS OLD, they will catch it and subsequently suffer the painful and fatal disease.

Because, as a puppy, if she were to be exposed to something like Parvo or Distemper, the expense for treating it can run into the thousands of dollars, and there typically isn't a health insurance for pets. With children, it's easier to limit their exposure (in theory at least, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) by teaching them to not eat stuff off the ground and to wash their hands, you can't teach a dog to wash its paws, and puppies are quick when they're picking stuff up off the ground. Plus, Parvo survives for years in the soil, then there's Giardia which can survive for a couple of years in the soil, and puppies love mud puddles, Giardia can kill. Medical treatment is far more accessible to humans than to pets, and any dog dying because its owners didn't keep it UTD on shots is a preventable and inexcusable death. Plus, some animal diseases, like Rabies and Giardia, are highly transmissible to humans, and can potentially kill a small child or immune compromised adult. And the treatment for Rabies is incredibly painful (a series of, I think, 4-6 shots deep into the abdominal muscles). All it takes is for one person to not vaccinate their dog, then take their sick dog to a dog park, for an entire neighborhood to be affected, as happened recently in San Onofre and Santa Margarita with a nasty Parvo and Giardia outbreak. Oh, and because of the coyote population on base, Parvo, Rabies and Giardia are quite rampant.
"Like I said, if you can't find a home for her, I'll take her no charge and give her the shots and home she needs. Please don't take her to the shelter."
"Like I said, if you can't find a home for her, I'll take her no charge and give her the shots and home she needs. Please don't take her to the shelter."
And she just sent me this:
"NO THANKS."
So she would rather have a puppy, who's life has barely started, be put to death in a shelter than give her a chance at someone else giving her a good home, just so she can make a buck off her? I wanna slapahoe over that.
