Fancy Nancy Paint Me a Story Join us for some creative fun with your preschooler as we read Fancy Nancy By Jane O'connor. From the top of her tiara down to her sparkly studded shoes, Nancy believes that more is ALWAYS better when it comes to being fancy. After the story, each child will get to paint their very own high heel, princess mirror, or purse bank! Cost includes story time, studio fee & pottery piece. Due to the young age of the children, we do ask that the parents stay and participate. Bookcase dimensions: 37"W x 10"D x 24"H. Affordable laser engraving services available on-site for all woodshop projects. Gerald the giraffe longs to dance, but his legs are too skinny and his neck is too long. At the Jungle Dance, the warthogs waltz, the chimps cha-cha, and the lions tango. "Giraffes can't dance," they all jeer when it's Gerald's turn to prance. But with some sound advice from a wise cricket, Gerald starts swaying to his own sweet tune. After the story, each child will get to paint their very own giraffe! Cost includes story time, studio fee & pottery piece. Date: Thursday, May 6th, 10:00 – 11:00AM Fee: $15 per child Ages: 1-5 Register/Sign Up! >> Beginning Throwing on the Wheel Throwing on the Potter's Wheel This class for beginners will cover wedging, centering, shaping, trimming, decoration, firing and glazing. Learn to create your own beautiful pots, vases, mugs, and bowls that you can use or give as gifts. Things to bring: an old towel, a willingness to get messy, and a sense of humor! Instructor Corinna Laird has created art all of her life and has worked more seriously with clay since 2004. She majored in studio art at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, and earned her Graduate Certificate in Ceramic Arts from Hood College in Frederick, MD. She is excited to be teaching again after spending time in grad school and having a baby. She loves to help people challenge themselves to learn something new and have fun in the process. Who hasn't tried saving some money for a rainy day? The young person telling this story is not quite sure exactly what it means to save for a rainy day, yet she still diligently deposits spare coins into the big belly of her piggy bank. "My piggy bank is exactly that, it's a pig to keep coins in, and it's really fat!" After the story, each child will get to paint their very own piggy bank! Cost includes story time, studio fee & pottery piece. Due to the young age of the children, we do ask that the parents stay and participate. Date: Thursday, June 4th Time: 10:00 – 11:00AM Fee: $15 per child Ages: 1-5 Register/Sign Up! >> Liberty Quilt Liberty Quilt Show off your patriotism this coming fourth of July by creating a beautiful quilt right here at the Hobby Shop. This multiple block design is much easier to make than it looks with basic piecing and appliqué, and we’ll provide everything you need to create your first (or second, third or fourth) quilt. Come with friends or family and learn how fun sewing can be! All materials are 100% machine washable. Bring your own sewing machine, or reserve one of ours at no extra cost. Finished quilt size: 67" x 85" Dates: Saturdays, June 5th and 19th Time: 10:00AM – 3:00PM Fee: $25 upon regisration, plus a $35 materials fee on the 1st day of class Ages: 13+ Level: Beginner Register/Sign Up! >> Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Paint Me a Story Join us for some creative fun with your preschooler as we read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom By Bill Martin Jr. The 26 characters in this rhythmic, rhyming baby book are a lowercase alphabet with attitude. "A told b, and b told c, 'I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree'"--which probably seemed like a good idea until the other 23 members of the gang decided to follow suit.
